The Opportunity

What’s next in your career? Are you ready to start a new journey? Our Team Members come from all walks of life and occupations. We genuinely value the contribution of every Team Member, bringing diverse skills, experience, and backgrounds. We’re committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every employee feels respected and valued to be their authentic selves.

No previous manufacturing or operations experience needed, we’ll provide you with all the on-the-job training and support you to develop you in your new career.

We’re currently creating a Talent Community for future Team Members in our Hot Mills department, with a focus on building a pool for the 24-hour, 5-day (24/5) roster. Within the Hot Mills department, you’ll contribute to the safety of our people, the quality of our product, and the reliability of our operations - playing a key role in producing and despatching high-quality steel plate. You’ll operate automated machinery while working in, and maintaining, a safe environment. We ensure all employees are supported with the necessary training, guidance, and equipment to complete all tasks safely.

This Talent Community will open the door to 12-month fixed-term opportunities as they become available - with positions expected to commence from December 2025 and continue to arise over the following 12 months.

These roles will offer a competitive starting weekly rate, with eligibility for overtime and a quarterly performance bonus. Team Members will work 12-hour shifts - rotating 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (Day) and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (Night) - with regular rostered days off and rosters published 12 months in advance to help maintain work-life balance.

By joining our Talent Community, you may also be considered for future roles across the Port Kembla site, including those on 24/7 rosters, if that’s something you’ve expressed interest in, depending on availability and business needs.

Our Information Session will provide further detail around the specifics of the roles and shift patterns.

What Will You Do?

As a Team Member in Hot Mills, you’ll perform a range of production tasks that support safe, efficient, and high-quality steel manufacturing. Your work may include:

  • supporting and promoting a safe working environment
  • operating machinery to process and manufacture our products
  • operating equipment such as forklift and cranes

Some positions may involve lifting and manual handling, as well as exposure to heat, heights, and noise. We ensure that all our employees are supported with the necessary training, guidance, and equipment to complete all tasks safely.

BlueScope has been granted an exemption under section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) in relation to targeted roles for women. This allows us to advertise and recruit these roles exclusively to female applicants

These opportunities are open exclusively to female applicants under the approved exemption.
