The Oppurtunity

This is an exciting time to join BlueScope as an Automation/Electrical Engineer!  Bringing your technical expertise and project management skills to the table, you’ll be at the forefront of a pipeline of capital projects aimed at transforming our current operations. Get excited about exploring future technologies and collaborating with multiple teams, sites, and operations across the country. With 400 roll forming machines spread across 40 sites nationwide, and 50+ projects in the pipeline ranging from machine installations to upgrades of existing equipment, we can assure you there will be variety and plentiful opportunity to showcase your professional expertise!

This opportunity welcomes an early career mechatronic engineer who may be interested in broadening their scope across multiple engineering disciplines.  This varied role will see you supporting all aspects of engineering as you apply your technical, analytical and a willingness to learn to the forefront of everything you do. You’ll be supported and mentored by a team of experts who are genuinely invested in providing you all the tools and opportunities to needed to develop an enviable portfolio of engineering expertise. 

Be located at one of our major BBC hubs in Melbourne (VIC), Sydney or Wollongong (NSW).     

What will you do?

As someone who is a tenacious problems solver, passionate about providing clever solutions and keen to be involved in everything, you will provide;

  • technical knowledge into the development of project design standards and scopes of work
  • provide technical input into the development of commissioning procedures and equipment commissioning activities
  • develop technical specifications for the procurement of specialised custom manufacturing equipment
  • assist maintenance groups in troubleshooting and diagnostics of equipment
  • ensure engineering documentation is complete and centrally stored

More About You

Perhaps you have had exposure to engineering disciplines outside of your core field, we are looking for someone who has a desire for ongoing professional growth in all facets of the profession, you’ll thrive in a team a supportive and inclusive environment. You will also have:

  • a tertiary degree qualification in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering
  • experience with automation systems, PLC, HMI, DCS & SCADA
  • experience with low voltage distribution systems and motor controls
  • experience with small to medium capital projects
  • experience in the preparation of a commercial business case and project management execution skills
  • developed communication and influencing skills - building constructive and effective relationships with existing teams
