The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join our Slabmaking Engineering team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
Being part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will support a team of aspiring engineers by providing ongoing mechanical design and technical expertise on equipment improvements, process modifications and new installations through delivering engineering solutions and managing projects. This opportunity is accepting both experienced and senior Mechanical Engineers, in which compensation will be reflective of your experience.

What Will You Do?
As part of this innovative and diverse role, you will:
- provide mechanical engineering support as required to the day-to-day operations of the plant
- provide expertise in mechanical and some structural design engineering to help minimize business risks associated with the application of technology in manufacturing improvement projects
- provide ongoing technical support and mentoring to the engineering team
- provide support to the team leader in managing the team
- provide project engineering and management skills to help accelerate the delivery of various projects in a cost-effective & timely manner
- provide technical direction and manage third party engineering consultant and drafting resources.
- identify and deliver continuous improvement outcomes to support the production and supply of our products
More About You
As an experienced Mechanical Engineer, you will possess sound technical and analytical knowledge, as well as:
- degree qualifications in mechanical engineering
- proficient with mechanical engineering design and calculations
- experience in a technical engineering role encompassing management of customer interfaces, design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of new equipment
- proficient in utilising engineering design tools such as Autocad and Inventor
- be able to interpret and evaluate design modelling completed in FEA and other analysis software packages.
- experience in project management
- sound knowledge of mechanical, structural and civil engineering principles
