The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our CPCM (Couple Pickled Cold Mill) team at our Springhill Manufacturing facility as a Shift Technical Officer. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, the CPCM team delivers superior steel products including COLORBOND®, ZINCALUME®, and innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

You’ll work collaboratively with the team, ensuring that production output and product quality achieves the exacting standards required to uphold our reputation and meet the needs of our customers. The Shift Technical Officer is focused on the delivery of exceptional performance whilst taking every opportunity to minimise cost and waste. Through developing a deep understanding of the process, you will be able to work through challenging technical issues to achieve the business plan targets and objectives.

This opportunity is a shift based role that requires availability of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What Will You Do?

As the Shift Technical Officer, you will:

  • be responsible for product and process quality and control of the pickling process and coolant systems
  • fault find potential issues through to solution before they have a chance to escalate
  • work through improvement opportunities to achieve ongoing incremental and step change benefits
  • step up to lead the shift team on a regular basis and support the team leader
  • drive the CPCM using integrated computer-controlled systems and direct the Operations crew to maximise quality and outputs

  • a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
  • tertiary qualification in engineering or science, or notable relevant experience in manufacturing
  • a strong technical base with a desire to understand and improve processes
  • high attention to detail and the ability to multitask
  • an ability to influence peers and colleagues to meet operational requirements, scheduling and people demands
