Job Description
As part of the Ethics and Compliance Team and reporting to Head of Investigations, Ethics and Compliance, this newly created role supports the Head of Investigations in the administration, governance and reporting of the BlueScope Speak Up external reporting hotline and embraces a collaborative and consultative approach between Corporate E&C and Business Units.
Although this role will encompass some investigations, it is primarily an administrative role and would be a great career move for someone who has had formal training in investigations and has had experience with the investigative process in a corporate setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Support the Head of Investigations in administering the BlueScope Speak Up external reporting hotline.
- Prepare reports for the review by the Head of Investigations for the quarterly Risk and Sustainability Committee on serious/complex investigations across the company.
- Where required, conduct investigations, or provide investigative support to the Head of Investigations involving business misconduct and/or workplace grievances as required.
- Update and maintain records in relevant databases, including detailed notes relevant to the matter.
- Prepare, analyse, and collate information and documentation, including report preparation.
- Foster best practice investigative processes and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Undertake project/research work to support the Corporate E&C team and management as well as collate information and maintain computer files, registers, and records.
Maintain registers and reporting on the status and outcomes of investigations, including liaising with stakeholders
Qualifications
Ideally you will have proven experience working in government and/or corporate workplace investigations. Previous experience or exposure to assessing, responding to whistle-blower reports. Consultative, approachable and with excellent communication skills, you can build effective relationships quickly.
You will also have:
- Formal training in investigations
- Effective analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of contemporary investigations processes, practices.
- Strong understanding of legal privilege or the ability to acquire the knowledge quickly.
- Experience in dealing with investigations of misconduct under Australian law, and under the laws of foreign jurisdictions.
- Strongly developed written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in undertaking projects
- HR/People and Social Impact teams must be a key interpersonal relationship.
- Strong interpersonal skills are integral.
- Familiarity with IT processes and document management/review platforms.
- Experience in / understanding of in-house legal role (desired but not essential)
