Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Climate Change in the Corporate Climate and Sustainability team, the Manager Energy Development is responsible for business-wide renewable energy and future fuels strategy frameworks, supporting development of business unit specific energy strategies, partnership development and associated stakeholder engagement.

With a focus on development of long term cleanenergy and storage strategies, responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting business units in assessing abatement opportunities to ensure attainment of targets
  • Active involvement In business case development & funding strategies for long term energy and future technology projects
  • Providing energy markets thought leadership and subject matter expertise to the global business
  • Insights generation through technical research, analysis and strategic support on energy to the functions and business units.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders to support the identification and evaluation of new renewable energy opportunities
  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships in the renewable energy and future fuels sector

Qualifications

As a key area in our business, the Climate Change Team is focussed on implementing strategies and initiatives to reduce BlueScope’s greenhouse gas emissions and pursuit of our net zero ambition to mitigate the impacts of climate change on the environment and society.

Ideally we are looking for:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, economics, engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in renewable energy sector
  • Deep subject matter expertise in energy strategy formulation and energy policy, including knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards for renewable energy
  • Strong commercial acumen and demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement
  • Sector experience in energy markets with energy trading experience viewed favourably.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
