Manager, Corporate Finance and Strategy

The Manager is an integral part of BlueScope’s Corporate Finance and Strategy team, that champions Our Purpose and assists in the development and execution of strategic commercial projects.

Reporting to the VP, Corporate Finance and Strategy, this position will work closely with executive level stakeholders to assist in executing BlueScope’s strategic objectives. This includes organic and M&A-driven growth opportunities, internal corporate development and other portfolio optimisation and restructuring projects.

 

The Opportunity

You will manage a small team and have the opportunity to lead critical workstreams that qualify and quantify opportunities against our medium and long-term risk profile. You will be responsible for managing and presenting to senior stakeholders at various stages of projects, identifying EBIT impacts and fully costed initiatives.

You will regularly work with business units across a global footprint (Australia, Asia, North America, New Zealand), to understand customer dynamics, market trends and competitor strategies.

You will provide expertise, guidance and support, especially in the usage of researched materials, working with external advisors as well as internal finance and other specialised teams.

In addition, you will be an ambassador of learning and knowledge sharing, demonstrating a can-do attitude to challenging business problems and establishing foundations of for best practices, that help evolve our way of working, for the future.

 

Your Background

We’re expecting you to be a clear communicator who is collaborative, adaptable and able to build trust and meaningful relationships across the business. You will have demonstrated experience in M&A activities, corporate development and corporate financial analysis, either within an enterprise organisation or within the investment banking / financial advisory sector. Experience in crafting highly detailed presentations and engaging with senior stakeholders, would be highly regarded.  

You are a tertiary-qualified practitioner, who is able to work independently and takes accountability for deliverables and results. Importantly, you are someone who is a proactive problem solver that is able to understand complex issues and environments.
