Process Operator (Female Intake), Hastings VIC

  • Full-time

Job Description

At BlueScope, we create and inspire smart solutions in steel, strengthening our communities and helping build a better future. Our steel has shaped everything from hospitals and schools, bridges and stadiums to fences and homes – influencing the way we live and work, now and in the future.

The Opportunity

Are you ready for a new career? We’ll provide you with all the on-the-job training and support you need to develop you in your new career.

We’re excited to be creating a ‘talent community’ of both fixed-term and permanent full time Process Operators who identify as female or non-binary*.  Roles will commence throughout 2021, however we will be conducting the recruitment process in the coming weeks.

These vacancies will be joining our Hastings team at our Western Port site. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products Portfolio, we have four major manufacturing sites at Western Port which operate 24 x 7 and deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to export and domestic customers.

Each day, our Process Operators play an integral part in producing BlueScope’s steel for our customers ensuring that only the finest quality is delivered. They are trained to operate automated machinery working in an extremely clean and safe environment. Some of these positions will require light lifting and manual movement of product depending on role requirements. We ensure all our employees are trained and equipped with all the required safety equipment to complete these tasks safely.

Team members work a variety of 12-hour shift patterns, including a combination of day and night shifts on a 24 x 7 rotational roster.  Rosters are produced 12 months in advance for your convenience and we will provide more detail on this through the recruitment process and information night.

What Will You Do?

With our ongoing support and training we provide, you will learn to:

  • successfully contribute to a safe working environment
  • operate machinery to process and manufacture our products
  • safely pack and strap our steel products
  • drive forklifts and operate overhead gantry cranes

More About You

Previous operations experience isn’t required. What we care about is your enthusiasm, work ethic and ability to go above and beyond for your work colleagues. We are on the lookout for dedicated team players who:

  • put safety first
  • have an enthusiasm to learn new skills and a willingness to work in a team environment and deliver on performance targets and meet customers expectations
  • respect others and embrace a diverse and inclusive workforce
