The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Engineering team in our BlueScope Building Components business as an Automation Engineer. BlueScope Building Components, a division of BlueScope in Australia, manufactures and markets steel building products, solutions and services through its four leading brands: Lysaght, Fielders, Ranbuild and Kiteleys.

In this hands-on role, you will support our manufacturing business with automation design of the equipment and processes. Your contribution will enhance automation of our systems and improve our technology, so that we can continue to make and deliver world-class products to our valued customers efficiently.

What will you do?

Working in a supportive environment, you will contribute to the safety of our people, efficiency of our equipment and the quality of our product. You will achieve this by:

  • leading and assisting in the design of equipment, production and manufacturing processes used in making of our products
  • assisting in day-to-day process improvement and recommending simple and robust solutions
  • reviewing performance, availability and breakdowns to identify equipment improvement plans
  • identify new technology to enhance our manufacturing processes

More about you

Being a tertiary qualified Electrical or Mechatronics Engineer, you will bring:

  • experience in analysing and identifying opportunities for manufacturing process improvements
  • the ability to develop detailed and accurate equipment specifications
  • PLC knowledge (e.g. Allen Bradley, Siemens S7, WinCC Flex) and root-cause analysis experience
  • proficiency in automation control systems
