The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Orrcon Steel business as a Maintenance Fitter in our Salisbury Maintenance team. Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe and leading Australian steel distributor with nationally recognised brands. 

In this business-critical role, you will be providing hands-on maintenance services to our production teams, who operate within a continuous manufacturing environment. Your contribution will enable improved machine safety, uptime and performance so we can continue to make and deliver our world-class product to our valued customers.

This role works a 7-week roster:

  • 4 weeks of 4 on 4 off – 2x day (5:48am-6pm), 2x night (5:48pm-6am)
  • 2 weeks of 5 days (Monday to Friday) on dayshift (6am to 2pm)
  • 1 week of 5 days (Monday to Friday) on afternoon shift (2pm to 10pm)

What will you do?

Working in a supportive environment, you will contribute to the safety of our people, the quality of our product and the reliability of our equipment. You will achieve this by:

  • isolating equipment and performing corrective maintenance on the machines
  • inspecting equipment and identifying faults, taking necessary actions to repair these
  • responding to and resolving machine breakdowns with a sense of urgency
  • planning and coordinating shutdowns for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • continually seeking opportunities to improve our maintenance strategies

More about you

You will bring:

  • demonstrated experience in the repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment including machine rebuilds and improvements
  • machining experience: Lathe and Milling machine
  • experience in alignment: motors, pumps, gearboxes, pulleys, belts, chains.
  • experience in Hydraulic & Pneumatic circuits and components 
  • ability to work both independently and as part of a manufacturing team
