This is a unique opportunity to launch your engineering career and utilise your academic qualifications and any industrial or manufacturing experience that you may have. You will be joining BlueScope to be a part of an incredible opportunity to work on a very large project, based at the Port Kembla Steelworks, Wollongong NSW.  You will work alongside experienced engineers within the Maintenance, Operations, and Projects Teams.

In this role, you will be required to assist in process engineering activities to support the No. 6 Blast Furnace Reline Project.  This will include carrying out design calculations, reviewing and updating Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams and Process Descriptions, and also creating and updating specifications and data sheets.  Additional activities include identifying and  implementing improvement opportunities to equipment, processes and systems in support of site operational objectives as part of a multi-disciplined team. You will be involved in hazard and design reviews, and plant layout reviews while engaging with external consultants and manufacturing companies. You will be responsible for assessing tenders, writing isolation procedures and procedures for working safely on gas systems.

Who are we looking for?

We are a looking for a qualified Engineer who is ready to kick start their career with us. You will need to have a minimum of a degree qualification in Chemical Engineering or similar, with some exposure and experience within a manufacturing/engineering environment.

Importantly you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • A genuine interest in BlueScope as an employer of choice;
  • Be naturally curious and with a willingness to work on complex problems; and
  • Ability to complete technical engineering work to meet project schedules.
