Job Description

We are currently seeking an Automation Engineer to become part of the team at Port Kembla Steelworks, one of the largest manufacturing facilities in Australia. The primary purpose of the role is to provide value adding expertise and continuous improvement to ASP Manufacturing through the application of your technical leadership, engineering and project management skills.

This position is a multi- disciplinary position, focussing on both control and automation, while working on a number of large projects for the business. In this position, you will provide a combination of both delivery of capital projects, and long-term asset development work.  You will be involved in developing modern solutions, reducing costs and energy consumption, while working on new and existing equipment. 

Who are we looking for?

You will have demonstrated skills and knowledge in automation and control systems and instruments. You will also be skilled in problem solving and reliability improvement, project management and commissioning management.

You will also possess the following:

  • a degree qualification in electrical engineering;
  • experience with Automation systems, ABB or similar;
  • project management experience;
  • experience within a heavy industry, process role; and
  • strong technical and analytical capability, problem solving and trouble shooting skills.

Experience in workplace health and safety and quality management systems, as well as a track record of facilitating engineering design, specification and commissioning will be highly regarded.
