The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) group in the Risk Engineering team as a Mechanical Engineer. The Risk Engineering team supports the Australian Steel Products businesses in identifying and implementing innovative engineering solutions to reduce risk and costs in various operational areas.

With your strong leadership capabilities, you will champion a best practice safety culture while leading HSE projects across multiple business units in Australia.

What Will You Do?

Working within our multi-disciplinary team, you will use your technical expertise to deliver key outcomes across multiple Health and Safety risk categories.  You will:

• transform and deliver optimal engineering solutions in areas of safety, operational efficiency, transport, logistics, and compliance
• guide, support, and deliver technical expertise to HSE Professionals and Operational Supervisors and Managers – including sustainability, safety improvements and incident investigations
• oversee the design and capturing of Load Restraint Guidelines for road, rail and marine transport modes with a focus on improving human factors, efficiencies and cost
• work closely with your HSE colleagues and identify areas of risk through with a strong focus on Chain of Responsibility compliance

With your ability to interpret engineering practices and transform these into meaningful business solutions, you will bring:

• a degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• a practical approach to problem solving and engineering application
• the ability to champion innovation and an evolving operating model
• extensive experience in writing technical documentation including reports and procedures
