Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and customer-focused individual to join the Maintenance Services Department in Western Port.  As the Mechanical Workgroup Leader, you will assist Maintenance Managers in the development of a disciplined approach to maintenance, facilitating cross functional relationships and to provide leadership for all maintenance roles.

Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Lead and manage maintenance teams, ensuring everyone understands their personal contribution, the wider business priorities, and always pursue a continuous improvement mindset; Identify, develop and implement process improvements and solutions;
  • Provide maintenance direction into asset management plans;
  • Manage critical equipment rebuilds; and
  • Ensure successful delivery of business priorities across safety and quality control measures.

Who are we looking for?

Key to this role is your demonstrable experience as a leader within a similar workshop environment and have suitable mechanical equipment knowledge with relevant Mechanical Engineering or trade qualifications.  We require someone who is organised,  innovative, able to provide strategic ideas and input, process improvement, team leadership and ensure projects are implemented efficiently and effectively in a Lean Manufacturing environment.  

You will possess the following competencies:

  • effective interpersonal skills to coach and support team members;
  • achievement-orientated;
  • have high degree of knowledge/experience in machining/fitting practices;
  • experience in interpreting mechanical drawings;
  • ability to facilitate change management; and
  • computer savviness with good understanding of computer systems, knowledge in SAP or similar systems desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
