Reporting to the State Manager VIC/TAS, you will oversee the Melbourne Metro operations facility at Clayton South and provide guidance to 4 regional branches across Victoria and Tasmania. Focusing on safety and people, this position will encompass production, logistics, DIFOT, cost, CAPEX budget and maintenance activities. This will see you:

• Set the VIC/TAS operations strategy in alignment with business direction;
• Translate the strategy into clear actions and goals for your team;
• Undertake regular formal and informal staff coaching and feedback activities;
• Inspire a high-performing culture and engaged workforce;
• Develop and execute maintenance and asset capability improvement plans;
• Ensure compliance with relevant acts, legislations and business policies; and
• Lead the adoption of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Who are we looking for?

Your well-developed interpersonal skills will enable you to influence and navigate your team through change. Experience in the steel industry is not required, however, exposure to a manufacturing environment is desirable. Ideally you will possess the following attributes:

• relevant tertiary or trade qualification;
• demonstrated problem-solving and/or mechanical aptitude;
• working knowledge of relevant methodologies (e.g. Lean, 5S, Six Sigma or OEE); and
• a passion for sharing your experience and knowledge with others.
