Energy is a critical input to steelmaking and energy costs are fundamental to the competitiveness of our business.  The Energy Sourcing and Utilisation (ES&U) team, in partnership with the business, optimise the cost of energy and utilities to support lowest cost manufacturing across ASP.  This is achieved by utilising expertise to manage complex internal and external interactions in the areas of energy contracting, utilisation, costing, reporting and compliance.

Job Description

The Finance Analyst is the key finance role in the ES&U team.  The role primarily exists to provide financial expertise and support to meet the needs of the ES&U and Services & Manufacturing Excellence teams.  An important part of achieving this is driving improvements in business processes and using technology to transform tasks to enhance efficiency, accuracy and boost team outcomes.

This role will see you work closely with other ES&U team members to:

  • Undertake monthly accounting activities (e.g. reporting and analysis of actuals, budgets and forecasts);
  • Prepare and present financial evaluation modelling to support business initiatives;
  • Engage with both Operations and Finance to support the needs of Operations and accurately reflect operational outcomes and expectations via financial reporting and forecasting; and
  • Lead and drive process improvement and automation initiatives.

Who are we looking for?

You will be degree qualified in a Commerce/Finance discipline. You will thrive working collaboratively in a small team environment, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, clear attention to detail and a drive for improved performance.

You will also have:

  • Experience in cost accounting, forecasting and budgeting;
  • A proven track record of implementing process improvements; and
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Experience in the energy industry and/or in a complex industrial setting is highly desirable along with experience in using TM1 and SAP R/3.
