Manager Growth and Learning, Melbourne VIC

  • Full-time

Company Description

BlueScope is a global steel player with a footprint covering Australia, New Zealand, United States and Asia (ASEAN region, India and China). We are a leading international supplier of steel products and solutions, principally focused on the global building and construction industry.

Job Description

This role contributes to the future-readiness of our people and business.

As a key member of BlueScope’s Organisation Capability function and direct report to its VP, you’ll focus on future skills and future of work, social-based learning platforms and UX, knowledge curation and sharing, and leader and professional development initiatives.

You’ll solve three key problems:

  1. How do we prepare people for the future of work?
  2. How do we equip people with the knowledge, skills and networks they need for success?
  3. How do we provide every individual in our business with quick, easy access to contemporary learning and ideas?

You’ll do this by developing, pitching and executing projects that:

  • Fundamentally change our approach to learning and development, including how we measure, adapt and govern our learning investments for maximum strategic return;
  • Integrate current learning practices with the identification and introduction of future skills, via human-centred digital design solutions;
  • Identify, implement and support global adoption of digital learning platforms that support rapid learning, protect against organisation knowledge loss and deliver great UX; and
  • Align organisational capabilities and people toward future strategy requirements.

What’s in it for you?

Chance to create and innovate. If you like status-quo, this is not for you. We have a new purpose and vision in place for the function and need you to help us create and deliver the strategic plans that will deliver this.

Lots of people interaction. If you like staring at a static computer screen all day, this is not for you. You’ll be out and about, coaching and collaborating. You’ll be online, sharing and connecting.

Learning and variety. If you like routine, this is not for you. You’ll be learning, testing ideas, piloting programs, applying new theories, educating others and developing yourself.

Flexibility and balance. If you like 9-5 and a permanent desk, this is not for you. You’ll be interacting with all time-zones, going where you add most value, taking lunch whenever you want it, and setting up your work to support your life – not the other way around.

Salary needs covered. If you like flexible salary packaging and attractive superannuation options…this time it is for you! BlueScope employees get a range of other benefits and offers, too.

What’s in it for us?

We get you!

Your attributes. We’re expecting you to be future-focused, commercially smart, digitally fluent, a social influencer, a voracious learner and a passionate coach.

Your experience. We’re anticipating you’ll have qualifications in behavioural sciences, professional education or digital learning, a background in learning program content design and/or digital learning systems design, and experience implementing cloud-based learning platforms and digital solutions for learning. Bonus points if you’ve helped implement HRIS or other multi-year system transformation programs.

Your knowledge. We want your brain full of ideas about future trends at work and their implications for – and applications to – workplace learning, leadership and knowledge management. We want you to know other people who think about these things too, as your network comes with you and we’ll want to leverage it.
