Manager Culture and Inclusion, Melbourne VIC

  • Full-time

Company Description

BlueScope is a global steel player with a footprint covering Australia, New Zealand, United States and Asia (ASEAN region, India and China). We are a leading international supplier of steel products and solutions, principally focused on the global building and construction industry.

Job Description

This role contributes to the sustainability of our people and culture.

As a key member of BlueScope’s Organisation Capability function and direct report to its VP, you’ll focus on organisation health and measurement, people risks and cultural alignment, and diversity and inclusion.

You’ll solve three key problems:

  1. How do we measure culture and access people insights that help us stay sustainable and successful?
  2. How do we level-up and advance our approach to diversity, inclusion and culture?
  3. How do we create global behavioural alignment to BlueScope’s vision and purpose?

You’ll do this by developing, pitching and executing projects that:

  • Fundamentally change our approach to measuring and governing people risk, culture and organisational health;
  • Systematically remove all cultural barriers to inclusion;
  • Engage and align our people to our organisation’s purpose and values; and
  • Align organisational capabilities and people toward future strategy requirements.

What’s in it for you?

Chance to create and innovate. If you like status-quo, this is not for you. We have a new purpose and vision in place for the function and need you to help us create and deliver the strategic plans to deliver this.

Lots of people interaction. If you like staring at a static computer screen all day, this is not for you. You’ll be out and about, coaching and collaborating. You’ll be online, sharing and connecting.

Learning and variety. If you like routine, this is not for you. You’ll be learning, testing ideas, piloting programs, applying new theories, educating others and continually developing yourself.

Flexibility and balance. If you like 9-5 and a permanent desk, this is not for you. You’ll be interacting with all time-zones, going where you add most value, taking lunch whenever you want it, and setting up your work to support your life – not the other way around.

Salary needs covered. If you like flexible salary packaging and superannuation options…this time it is for you! BlueScope employees get a range of other benefits and offers, too.

What’s in it for us?

We get you!

Your attributes. We’re expecting you to be future-focused, commercially smart, digitally fluent, a social influencer, a voracious learner and a passionate coach.

Your experience. We’re anticipating you’ll have qualifications in behavioural sciences applied to people at work, a background in research (including analytical design, statistical analysis and modelling applied to both cross-sectional and longitudinal multi-method studies), and experience with large corporates.  Bonus points if you’ve been advising C-Suite and Board on diversity and inclusion strategy.

Your knowledge. We want your brain full of ideas about future trends at work and their implications for – and applications to – workplace culture, connection and inclusion. We want you to know other people who think about these things too, as your network comes with you and we’ll want to leverage it.
