We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join the Asset Development team within the Blast Furnace Department, Coke and Iron, Port Kembla.  You will work as part of a dynamic team responsible for the delivery of Blast Furnace assets, maintaining plant integrity and supporting best practice operational performance.

The Blast Furnace Department is currently looking to recruit a PCI Plant Maintenance Team Leader to provide operational and technical leadership to ensure business plan objectives are met.

In this position, you will develop a high performing team maintaining plant integrity and functionality supporting sustainability, best practice operational performance and the continued delivery of manufacturing excellence.

Whilst you deliver continuous improvement outcomes a key requirement will be to provide a long-term asset capable of supporting ongoing safe and reliable Blast Furnace operations.  You will control the budget associated with maintaining and developing the relevant Blast Furnace assets whilst also ensuring that effective controls are in place to manage relevant hazards associated with the ironmaking process.  You will also have strong skills supporting BlueScope’s continued excellence in delivering zero harm to people and the environment.

In addition to this, the role will also require you to:

  • Deliver safely the outputs expected in the Blast Furnace business plan on a day to day, week to week basis.
  • Provide a long-term asset management strategy to deliver plant reliability and optimise equipment life.
  • Ensure maintenance is performed in accordance with the maintenance plan with a specific emphasis on total life cycle asset management and compliance with all relevant standards and requirements.
  • Take a root cause analysis approach eliminating loss.

Who are we looking for?

This is a great opportunity that would suit an enthusiastic and motivated individual keen to pursue a position with the Blast Furnace Asset Development Department.

We are looking for someone with experience in asset development and management of heavy equipment supporting an industrial process (including development of equipment long life strategy).

You will have strong team and organisational leadership skills, with skills also in effective communication and time management. You will possess a thorough understanding of workplace OH&S requirements plus business management skills with a focus on cost management, delivering customer requirements and continuous improvement.

Prior front line leadership experience in an industrial workplace will be highly regarded.

Electrical qualifications are a requirement of this position.
