Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Process Improvement Specialist to assist with improving BlueScope’s manufacturing asset utilisation and developing cost-effective manufacturing technology for BlueScope’s new products. This role will develop and support BlueScope’s own coated steel products and processes, as well as assist with the external global licensing program for 55%Al-Zn coated steel technology.

This role will see you develop and implement solutions for chronic manufacturing issues, some of which are of medium to long-term in nature, whilst collaborating with manufacturing teams to develop and execute plans to improve manufacturing assets and asset utilisation.

This is a great opportunity to join the team and work on some exciting projects such as the global roll out of the Next Generation Zincalume® steel.

This position will also see you responsible for the following;

  • Develop manufacturing technology to ensure successful and cost-effective production of new products;
  • Manages governance of metal coating alloys and provides technical support to the Procurement Metals Category;
  • Provide remote Technical and Operational support to global 55%Al-Zn licensees;
  • Develop and manage external network to leverage BlueScope’s innovation spend & technology position; and
  • Perform a regular technology scan for new processes & developments to improve BlueScope’s manufacturing technology & asset utilisation.

Who are we looking for?

You will be an experienced process improvement specialist with extensive knowledge of Metal Coated products. You will have strong project management skills, with problem solving abilities demonstrated through a systematic and scientific approach.

You will have strong knowledge of 55%Al-Zn and/or galvanised steel product attributes, metallurgy and manufacturing requirements. You will have the ability to to identify and deliver improvement and development opportunities for BlueScope’s manufacturing assets.

A strong influencer, you will have high level written and verbal communication skills.

Degree qualifications in Science, Chemistry or Engineering is a requirement.
