    Job Description

    Job summary:

    We are hiring for a DevOps Engineer with experience in building and managing scalable linux environments hosted on AWS. With a knack for automating the simplest of tasks and ability to simplify the most complex of problems. An individual with great attention to details, who is genuine, confident, committed and not only passionate about technology, but excited to work in a fun and friendly environment. 

    Our groundbreaking product requires an exceptional environment setup. 

    We are seeking a skilled and talented engineer to work on our cloud environment, alerting/monitoring setup, developer services and along with our in-house developed solutions to solve complex problems and bring desirable efficiency and results. 

    Your team:

    The DevOps team is instrumental in setting up and configuring the BlueOptima infrastructure on AWS, as well as monitoring applications that are critical to the functioning of all the teams in engineering. We automate the automatable!! We are always interested in developing scripts or tools (preferably in Python) that can help reduce manual effort. 

    Each member of our team represents the commitment to the proper functioning of all components in the BlueOptima environment. We use multiple configuration management tools to host and secure the infrastructure, as well as to bootstrap and configure applications. Maintaining SLAs for uptime of these resources is paramount to the team. 

    You will be working with a diverse team with members located around our different offices, with whom you will be working hand-to-hand. This team is currently based in Gurgaon and Bangalore with rapid expansion in India at this moment.
     

    Responsibilities: 

    Kubernetes Cluster Management:

    • Provision, configure, and manage production-grade Kubernetes clusters on AWS and On-premise.

    • Ensure cluster health, scalability, and high availability.

    • Implement security best practices for Kubernetes deployments, including network security policies and pod security policies.

    • Automate cluster operations using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and VCS

    • Manage and troubleshoot Kubernetes networking components like Ingress controllers, service meshes, and network policies.

    AWS Expertise:

    • Manage core AWS services, including but not limited to EC2, IAM,  S3, Lambda, VPC, and Route53.

    • Design and implement secure IAM policies for infrastructure and application access.

    • Configure and monitor security perimeters for AWS resources, including EC2 instances, S3 buckets, and VPCs, with emphasis on network security groups and access control lists (ACLs).

    • Utilise GuardDuty, OpenVas and other tools for threat detection and incident response.

    • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible or Puppet.

    Monitoring and Observability:

    • Maintain and improve existing monitoring solutions like Prometheus, Grafana, AlertManager, OpsGenie and CloudWatch.

    • Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues using logs, metrics analysis, and network tracing tools.

    • Manage and optimise the ELK stack for log aggregation and alerting.

    Developer Services:

    • Support and improve the uptime and performance of developer services like Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, and Jenkins.

    Security and Reliability:

    • Identify and mitigate system vulnerabilities and failures.

    • Develop and implement automation solutions to reduce manual tasks.

    • Continuously improve infrastructure resilience and uptime.

    Team Leadership:

    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.





     

    Qualifications

    What You Need to Succeed at  BlueOptima:  

    Experience:

    • 3 years  to 6 years experience.
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

    • 2+ years of experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments. 

    • 2+ years of experience with AWS services including EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and Route53. 

    • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform. 

    • Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and ELK Stack. 

    Essential Skills:

    • Kubernetes Cluster Management: Experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments 

    • AWS Expertise: Strong understanding of core AWS services (EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM, Route53) and their use in infrastructure provisioning and management. 

    • Infrastructure Automation: Experience with IaC tools like Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration.

    • Monitoring and Observability: Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and troubleshooting using logs and metrics analysis.

    • Linux Administration: Experience troubleshooting Linux distributed systems and security hardening.

    • Networking: Excellent understanding of IP networks, trouble-shooting of issues from Layer 1 to Layer 3, and VPN setup.

    • CI/CD and Scripting: Experience with CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., Jenkins) and scripting languages like Python or Shell for automation.

    • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a geographically dispersed team. 

    Desired Skills:

    • Containerization: Experience with containerization solutions like Docker for packaging and deploying applications. 

    • Atlassian Administration: In-hand experience administering and improving Atlassian services (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence).

    • Highly Available Environments: Experience with clustered and highly-available deployments. 

    • Database Management: Familiarity with PostgreSQL configuration management. 

    • Security: Understanding of security best practices for infrastructure and application vulnerabilities. 

    • Vulnerability Scanning: Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanners (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS) is a plus.
