Scientist, Translational Neuropathology

  • Full-time
  • Region: US
  • Department: Research & Development

Job Description

About This Role

The Translational Neuropathology group at Biogen is seeking a skilled and motivated scientist to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team focused on integrated molecular and histopathologic studies of human neurologic and immunologic disease. The scientist will lead/support deep visual proteomic/spatial multiomic investigations of human tissues and translational models to identify and inform on portfolio targets and biomarker strategies. The scientist may also contribute to preclinical in vivo studies in a highly collaborative environment to advance therapeutic approaches toward clinical development.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute innovative spatial and pathology-guided multi-omics (proteomic, transcriptomic, metabolomic) studies in human neurologic and or/immunologic disease tissues and translational models
  • Carry out multiplexed histology-based analyses for targeted investigation of RNA/protein analytes in human tissues and translational models
  • Collaborate with program teams, subject matter experts, and computational biology and biostatistics colleagues for implementation of robust analytical pipelines
  • Work with departmental mentors on career development steps to grow as a Leader in neuropathology, immunopathology, translational biology and drug development

Qualifications

Who You Are

You are a team player who is highly adaptable, eager to learn, and independent. You are passionate about elucidating the molecular mechanisms contributing to human disease for the discovery of new targets and the development of improved therapies.

Required Skills

  • PhD in neurobiology, pathology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field + 0-2 years of relevant postdoctoral experience in industry or academia
  • Proven track record/publication record reflecting scientific productivity and rigor
  • Basic experience in standard molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques
  • Proficiency in data analysis/statistics (comfort with R or Python are a plus)
  • Capacity to work both independently and in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following approaches is highly desirable, but not required: deep visual proteomics, spatial transcriptomics, or spatial molecular imaging, laser capture microdissection, single cell proteomics, automated sample handling, and image analysis
