Job Description

The Associate Director, BI&O Communications and Change Management role is responsible for leading the narrative for the BI&O organization’s purpose, progress and impact on performance, innovation, and transformation. This role will need a strategic mindset to grasp and craft the right level of topics and discussion around Insights & Analytics, Data Management, Marketing & Customer Engagement Operations, Omnichannel, Advanced Analytics, and Patient Services & Experience that need to take place within the BI&O team as well as craft compelling messaging to share across the broader Biogen North America Organization in the form of written and verbal communications. In addition, the creation of a new integrated organization as we work to strategically roadmap and execute on modernizing the teams for the future will lead to ongoing change management work around visions, purpose, roles, expectations, ways of working, and more. All of which will need to be re-enforced and communicated often within and outside BI&O with various stakeholders. 
Working closely with the Head of BI&O and the leadership team with exposure to the North America leadership team, this role will own the preparation and delivery of informative communications on behalf of the Head of BI&O as we as the entire LT —including email blasts, presentations, newsletters, video comms and other materials—to help share department-wide initiatives, learnings and gain greater awareness/appreciation of what it takes to do operational execution and recognition. This role will sit on the Portfolio Strategy, Planning, & Process Innovation team and work closely with the Head of the group and other members of the team. 
This is an important role within the BI&O organization, with accountability for keeping a pulse on the culture and devising a communication and change management strategy sourcing and synthesizing the organization’s key brand, progress and impact, while also proactively monitoring the healthcare/Biotech industry trends and utilizing on messaging, evolution as well as a lens on our own collective dept evolution in relation to Industry leading best practices.  Driving the change management associated with the continued evolution of the department will be a key responsibility through an overall team and stakeholder engagement plan and execution. Overall – contribute greatly to building a connected, exciting and energizing culture through ample communication in various forms across the entire dept. and share appropriately outside the dept.

What You’ll Do
•    Drive an organized, systematic, and disciplined approach to BI&O Communications strategy, including owning the processes and cadence for identifying the right channels, forums and materials to drive a connected team engagement strategy. This would include developing materials to support Head of BI&O communications to the team, townhalls, large group meetings and events.
•    Keep a pulse on the right topics within the BI&O team and solicit the right content from across the broad set of functions to connect dots, share updates, highlight recognition, showcase projects and people etc. Own the creation of these communication tactics, keep current and build new. 
•    Manage any internal and external presentations for BI&O Head to be made on trends, showcase our accomplishments, recognition or differentiating capabilities in the industry. 
•    Own newsletters or other tactics for BI&O to communicate to the broader North America organization on important topics for attention, etc.
•    Support Team Engagement – Plan and execute (via other teams) the right forums and agenda topics to engage various levels of the team in a cohesive engagement plan. 
•    Lead change management and ongoing communication to stakeholders outside BI&O to keep everyone up to date on the evolution of the organization. This may be ongoing presentations at BU LT meetings or other Dept meetings.
•    Builds comprehensive change management strategies, project plans to execute on various communications. Enables stakeholder awareness and guides business engagement (e.g. Sponsors, champions, leaders, and practitioners).
•    Designs and develops creative and razor-sharp communications and dynamic training plans that clearly articulate the BI&O vision, transformation roadmap and progress so it is widely understood across Biogen

Qualifications

Required Skills
•    Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
•    8-10 years’ experience in communications agency, strategy or consulting roles leading strategic communications and change management
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to turn broad topics around insights, analytics, sales operations, marketing operations, customer engagement and patient services into compelling stories and ability to produce documents and presentations that are ready for management review
•    Results-oriented approach and follow through on commitments, ensuring projects are delivered on time, every time and Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
•    Ability to act as a change management evangelist: You are highly productive, independent, creative, focused and enjoy researching new trends. You are ambitious and have the experience to make things awesome, not just good enough
Self-starter attitude with strong partnering and consultative skills with ability to develop trusted relationships across the enterprise
•    Interest in developing innovative communication approaches, including new emerging opportunities with AI technologies 
•    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
•    Creative thinking with ability to see the big picture, while owning the delivery of projects from start to finish
•    Executive-level presence and strong business acumen with experience with creating executive leadership materials and communication

Preferred Skills
•    Experience in Biotech or healthcare industry, strongly preferred
