Scientist, Immunology and Neurobiology Research
- Full-time
- Region: US
- Department: Research & Development
Job Description
About This Role
Multiple Sclerosis and Specialized Immunology Research Unit at Biogen is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual with experience in systems immunology and neuroscience to drive the discovery and prioritization of new products through the portfolio by the creation, interpretation, and analysis of deep molecular data. Candidates should have at least one first-author publication and a strong desire to interrogate human immunology and neurobiology using cutting-edge experimental and bioinformatics analyses.
What You’ll Do
You will work in a multi-disciplinary team analyzing multi-omic datasets to derive insights into autoimmune disorders. Our mission is the development of novel therapeutics to improve the life of patients. You will be joining a team focused on identifying new targets for the treatment of autoimmune diseases through computational analysis of human disease tissue derived datasets, and through validating targets using humanized experimental approaches. We have ongoing research efforts studying human tissues from different autoimmune and neurological disorders. We have been profiling clinical and non-clinical samples using single cell and spatial technologies and have generated several million single-cell mRNA data from hundreds of peripheral and brain tissue samples. You will closely work with multiple groups across the organization to pioneer spatial profiling and single-cell multimodal assays, as well as machine-learning and bioinformatics approach to analyze these data.
Key responsibilities:
- Drive exploratory and preclinical research using both experimental and bioinformatics analyses.
- Establish and develop new analysis strategies in single cell and integrate multi-omics data to infer context-specific regulatory network for target identification and biomarker selection.
- Build strong interactions with team members and actively contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
- Prepare and deliver scientific presentations to provide rigorous data analysis.
- Provide subject matter expertise on deep dive data analysis to support team decisions.
Who You Are
You are a team player who is passionate about understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms driving autoimmune disorders. You are excited to learn, and transparent about your knowledge gaps and results discrepancies when you encounter them. You deal well with uncertainties and are willing to accept a dynamic work environment with out-of-your-control changes as part of the package.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Biology, Neuroscience or relevant scientific discipline
- 4+ years hands on experience in multi-omics data integration strategies
- Previous experience and record of peer-reviewed publication in analyzing single cell transcriptomics data for explaining a biological process in a model system.
- You are a team player who can work independently and take responsibility.
- Strong oral and written communications skills
