About This Role

The Medical Director - Neuropsychiatry role is a part of Global Medical, a strategic partner within Biogen, that helps inform medical practice across our therapeutic areas to improve meaningful patient outcomes.  As a key member of the Global Medical Director office team reporting to the Global Head, Neuropsychiatry, the Medical Director supports the development and implementation of the Global Medical Strategy for Biogen’s Neuropsychiatry (NP) therapeutic area assets and commercialized products. What You’ll Do

  • Provide scientific & Medical leadership for NP products, including development of strategic & long-range medical plans, calling out specific unmet medical need, and identifying key data gaps.  Ensure robust execution of Global Medical NP tactics, in alignment with strategy & budgetary expectations. 
  • Lead Ex-US Key Medical Stakeholder engagement strategy & tactics, including scientific exchange, advisory activities & medical Insight synthesis.  Build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders (including HCPs, healthcare institutions and advocacy groups) in NP therapeutic landscape.
  • Serve as Global subject matter expert within Neuropsychiatry, providing scientific & medical expertise to cross functional teams & colleagues in Regulatory, Market access and Country-level teams.  Present data at Global Medical affairs events, including advisory boards and trainings as well as congresses & medical education events. 
  • Develop the Ex-US relevant data generation strategy and lead specific data generation projects to address identified medical/scientific data gaps in close collaboration and alignment with Global NP clinical experts, Clinical Development, Real World Evidence Generation teams and R&D. Serve as expert Medical reviewer for NP collaborative research projects.
  • Contribute to the development/adaptation of medical materials (e.g. presentations, trainings, medical briefs and talking points) for the Global Medical team according to DSMR requirements and manage submission processes. As content expert, review abstracts, publications, Medical Information letters & other medical documents for scientific use as needed.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • MD, PhD (life sciences), or PharmD required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably with prior work in Headquarters-based Medical Affairs role & Field Medical based role.  Substitution of industry work with relevant clinical practice experience in Neuropsychiatry may be considered.
  • Relevant experience in depression & psychiatry. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and take initiative to solve complex & challenging problems.  Demonstrated success with project management & vendor negotiation / contract management.  Experience in developing Key Performance Indicators & Impact measures for Medical Affairs activities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with regional and/or affiliate medical to ensure regional activities are executed in alignment with global medical strategy and ensuring the insights and needs from them are known and properly addressed. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to include presentations.

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is $187,200 to $312,000. Base salary  is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
