Job Description
The External Network Transformation group is looking to hire a Director, External Network Strategy (Device/L&P). The incumbent will engage with Executive Leadership of PO&T to establish and influence strategic direction of the External Network required to support and anticipate the needs of Biogen across all modalities. He/she will maintain an end-to-end supply network plan for Contract Manufacturing Organizations, and also work closely with other global functions/processes including External Manufacturing, CLO management, External Quality, Finance, Procurement, and Supply Chain. He/she will be accountable to perform market screening activities to ensure ongoing decision making on selection, use and discontinuation of service providers is driven by data and analytics. Developing and maintaining a process framework for external operations, allowing for a holistic network strategy including contract negotiations, quality agreements, terms sheets, make versus buy decisions, and decisions on expansion and/or consolidation will also be apart of this director’s job duties.
This is a hybrid role with flexibility to be based in any one of our offices in RTP,NC, Cambridge, MA, or Baar, CH.
What You’ll Do
- Long range planning in alignment with clinical and commercial needs for Finished goods Label and Pack
- Long range planning in alignment with clinical and commercial needs for Device Assets.
- Evaluate risks and benefits in Biogen’s Network strategy. Facilitate outsourcing requirements gathering processes and ensure risk assessments are performed. Conduct research for targeted countries/regions. Create a short- and long-term outsourcing plan that ensures resilience and reliability
- Develop a framework for Contract Manufacturing Organizations, including responsibilities for sourcing. Embed the framework into contracts and negotiations.
- Develop Framework for capability assessments, including short- and long-term needs for Biogen. Utilize the framework to ensure ongoing evaluation for preferred suppliers.
- Develop and utilize a process for preferred supplier networks. Create and maintain standard templates for contracts/service agreements/quality agreements.
Qualifications
Who You Are
You are a seasoned leader with robust risk management experience. You will ensure PO&T priorities and business objectives are achieved. You will play an instrumental role in influencing the development of partnerships with key providers to support network strategies.
Required Skills
- BS degree with at least 15 years of related experience with a minimum of 10 years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Equivalent experience equates to a PhD with at least 12 years of experience
- Demonstrated experience negotiating business contracts
- Experience in biotech/pharmaceutical operations or testing lab operations
- Strong quantitative abilities and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence change
- Experience with project management
