Job Description
The Pharmaceutical Operations & Technology division (PO&T) is looking to hire an Operations Manager. The PO&T Operations Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and executing internal and external employee engagement and business unit brand and operations activities. The incumbent designs and creates content to support the Head of PO&T in illustrating and explaining critical business information for presentation and decision making at the Executive and Board levels. The PO&T Operations Manager facilitates content and material development for Executive and external visits to Biogen locations.
In collaboration with the PO&T communication lead, the incumbent manages logistics and communications for Head of PO&T engagement activities, including internal sharing media (e.g. Yammer, Sharepoint, Webcast visual materials) and materials that support realization of overall PO&T strategic goals. The PO&T Operations Manager updates and publishes the PO&T organization work priority matrix, designs PO&T employee-facing content published on the company intranet and is responsible for maintaining currency and relevance of PO&T employee engagement materials. The incumbent supports the Head of PO&T Strategic Operations in planning and executing PO&T Leadership Team (LT) engagement activities that coincide with bi-monthly strategic sessions. The PO&T Operations Manager is an individual contributor role with broad impact across the global PO&T organization, without revenue or budget management accountability
This is a hybrid role to be based in our Cambridge, MA office.
What You’ll Do
- Designs and creates content to support the Head of PO&T in illustrating and explaining critical business information for presentation and decision making at the Executive and Board levels. Performs research and supplies background information to support decision making discussions. Activities have broad business impact internally and with potential for external impact.
- Plans, develops, and executes internal and external employee engagement and business unit brand activities, including Head of PO&T and PO&T Leadership team employee engagement activities. Recommends plans and content for Head of PO&T approval. Activities have broad impact across PO&T.
- Facilitates content and material development for Executive and external visits to Biogen locations. Partners directly with site General Managers and the PO&T Leadership Team to ensure materials achieve visit objectives and reinforce critical messaging.
- Maintains currency and relevance of PO&T employee engagement materials, including all internal sharing media. Designs, develops, and makes broadly available materials that directly support realization of overall PO&T strategic goals, including initiative execution and capability integration.
- Updates and publishes the PO&T organization work priority matrix in partnership with the PO&T Leadership Team. Develops content from data to support PO&T operating model governance structure as needed.
Qualifications
Who You Are
You have a wide breadth of knowledge in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, especially in operational aspects. You should have experience working and leading in a highly matrixed organization. You have high interpersonal and collaborative skills and should have the comfortability working with senior leaders. You understand Biogen’s culture, organizational structure, and processes. You have the ability to translate complex business information to understandable and compelling content.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Engineering, Organizational Effectiveness, Communications or related field; MBA or business training preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in industry
- Must have demonstrated experience working in or leading in a highly matrixed, fast growing and global biopharmaceutical organization
- Strong understanding of best-in-class operation organizations
- Excellent interpersonal skills/ highly collaborative
- Understands Biogen culture, organizational structure, and processes
- Strong organizational skills; project/ timeline management capabilities
- Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to draw insights from data quickly, perform analyses and present business cases
