Job Description
Duties:
- Provide actionable insights to drive continuous quality improvement through the application of descriptive, investigative, and predictive analytics.
- Support development and implementation of data science solutions to maximize efficiency in quality risk management, metrics reporting and data visualization.
- Work side-by-side with Data Scientists, Statisticians and Business Partners from cross-disciplinary teams to use cutting-edge data science techniques to develop impactful applications.
- Involved in end-to-end projects to create production-grade data science products such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Text Mining, and to implement innovative solutions that enable new enterprise capabilities.
- Design solutions to complex and ambiguous data challenges, and apply machine learning, statistical testing, and other data science techniques to solve problems.
- Uncover Optimization Opportunities and Identify Compliance Risk, including developing data science models to optimize audit planning and scheduling in Good Pharmacovigilance,
- Clinical Development and Laboratory practices.
- Trending and Visualization of Quality Risk Signals, including conducting text mining on quality issues and audit or inspection findings with various Natural Language Processing technologies (e.g., Topic Modeling, Sentence Embedding, Name Entity Recognition), and creating interactive dashboard or website to visualize results with software or frameworks (e.g., Dash, Streamlit, Power-BI, or equivalent).
- Design and implement of statistical metrics by working with various stakeholders to define integrated leading Key Quality Index (KQI) and Key Performance Index (KPI) to drive performance and quality.
- Provide ad-hoc, statistical and data science support leveraging statistical tools such as Python (SciPy), MATLAB or R, to scientifically design, test, and interpret business hypotheses with statistical methods (e.g., t-test, F-test, ANOVA test, Chi-Square test, etc.).
- Develop predictive models with supervised learning methods, such as Logistic Regression, Poisson Regression, Zero-inflate Binomial Regression, XGBoost, Random Forrest, etc.
- Utilize MATLAB, R, or Python packages to conduct statistical analysis to check different statistical properties of the large data set, including statistical distribution, mean, variance, quantiles, skewness, and kurtosis.
- Analyze correlation and variance of the large data set with advanced statistical methods, including Principal Component Analysis, Singular Value Decomposition, Spearman Rank Correlation, etc.
- Work with IT and Data Management team to define and continually optimize technical infrastructure for data science ecosystem within R&D.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 100%.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field and 2 years of experience as a data scientist or similar role in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO industry.
Experience must include:
2 years of experience with each of the following:
- Scripting languages (Python and R) and data querying languages (SQL).
- Hands-on experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and text mining with healthcare-related data.
Demonstrable experience with each of the following:
- Familiarity with regular expressions and NLP packages in Python (NLTK and SpaCy), and at least one of the following machine learning frameworks: scikit-learn, Pytorch, or Transformers.
- Strong data visualization skills and experience with relevant tools (Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly).
- Strong understanding of statistical concepts (probability, t-test, ANOVA test, p-value, and logistic regression).
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, accompanied by analytical thinking and data analysis skills, and demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and turn data into information that helps drive decisions.
