About This Role  

The Sr. Manager FinOps plays a critical role in managing key financial processes for the IT Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) organization.  In conjunction with other team members, the Sr Manager FinOps will work across I&O to drive the strategic objectives of the organization by supporting all aspects of financial planning and analysis. In addition, this role will focus on establishing the cloud financial operations practice for I&O. This will entail leading the development of processes, guidelines and standards to optimize costs and spending in the cloud. The Sr. Manager FinOps will also review and update various cost models that support functional IT investment decisions and support infrastructure cost transparency (show back).  In partnership with Finance, this role will also be responsible for developing and maintaining management reports and presentations that communicate I&O’s health and performance against financial commitments.  

What You’ll Do  

  • Partner with Finance to manage overall I&O financial processes, including working with department heads to develop budgets and quarterly forecasts, support month-end close activities  
  • Develop financial performance reports to facilitate leadership reviews of budgets and of quarterly results vs. plan, including materials for monthly CIO functional review 
  • Manage and drive I&O’s cost improvement plans to ensure financial targets are met 
  • Establish and manage I&O’s cloud financial operations (FinOps) practice 
  • Partner with the Infrastructure Services team to manage cloud-based financial accounts, including monitoring usage, managing budgets, and reducing cloud costs by identifying opportunities to lower expenses and optimize usage 
  • Be responsible for reconciling cloud provider invoices and charges to ensure accurate billing and financial reporting 
  • Create financial reports and conduct data analysis to provide insights into cloud usage, costs, and performance 
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization, including IT, finance, and project leaders, to ensure alignment on cloud strategy, usage, and financial management 
  • Review and update the hosting cost calculator model and assumptions 
  • Partner with platform/service owners to ensure costs are updated regularly in cost models 
  • Partner with I&O Stakeholder Success Leads to provide hosting cost estimates for functional IT projects 
  • Manage processes to provide greater understanding and transparency of infrastructure costs including reviewing and updating the infrastructure showback model 
  • Facilitate review of costs reflected in Platform Based Management (PBM) dashboard to drive data accuracy

You either come from a technical background and transitioned to the financial side OR you are someone with a financial background who is working in IT now.  You are able to see the big picture but can also work at the detailed level required to effectively deliver results.  You are self-starter that can identify and seize opportunities to improve processes and optimize costs.  You are analytical and are passionate about using data to drive business decisions. You enjoy collaborating with others to achieve goals. 

    Qualifications

    Required Skills  

    • 7+ years of experience in IT and or Finance 
    • 2-5 years of experience in cloud computing  
    • Experience with financial forecasting, budgeting and results reporting at an enterprise level 
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure Cloud platforms (services, architecture and tools) 
    • Proven experience with cost optimization practices in the cloud 
    • Strong technical skills - knowledge of cloud computing platforms and cloud-based billing tools 
    • Working knowledge of FinOps best practices  
    • Strong analytical skills with an aptitude for problem-solving 
    • Experience with reporting tools and dashboards  
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
    • Strong interpersonal skills 
    • Strong ability to work independently 

    Preferred Skills 

    • Experience with AWS billing and cost management tools and processes 
    • Experience with Power BI  
    • Existing FinOps Certified Practitioner certification 
    • Familiarity with doing FinOps and cloud financial management on multiple cloud platforms
