The Sr. Automation Engineer maintains and troubleshoots all process control system hardware and software (DeltaV DCS system) in support of the biopharmaceutical manufacturing process.  Creates software design specifications, implements new control strategies and develops software test protocols in support of new products and processes. Responsible Engineering (RE) duties including validation protocol review and approvals and the creation of Change Controls for modifications to these validated systems. Troubleshoots process control systems and supports manufacturing operations through an on-call rotation. 

What you'll do:

• Design and support new complex software solutions for process improvements or new equipment.
• Troubleshoot Complex DeltaV Software and Hardware.
• Build and execute automation test protocols. 
• Collaborate with medium to large stakeholder groups ranging from 3-10 people.
• Ownership of electronic automation change control process and validation packages.
• GMP documentation updates – Design Document & Functional Specifications.
• Evaluate project risks and delegate project tasks.
• Complete projects independently or manage junior level engineers to complete projects.
• Mentor junior engineers on medium/complex DeltaV/Project tasks
• Leadership Role on Tech Transfer or Projects or lead company initiatives
• Build project schedule for medium to large projects.
• Build or review DeltaV scope for medium to large capital projects.

Who you are:

You love using software design, configuration, validation and implementation to resolve complex batch problems.    You enjoy solving problems through collaboration and completing large size projects start to finish.

• Bachelor’s degree in an Eng discipline or Computer Sciences 
• 6-8 years experience in the Biotech industry. 
• Must have DeltaV distributed control system experience to include: 
  • Troubleshoot medium/hard complexity DeltaV issues with minimal to no support.
  • Design DeltaV software solutions with medium/hard complexity with minimal to no support.
  • DeltaV Admin knowledge a plus – management/support of VRTX servers, Virtural Machines, Thin Client, Thin Client Network, Microsoft/Emerson Patch Installs.
  • Ability to speak to deviations or corrective action DeltaV solutions.
  • Execute medium to hard DeltaV projects from start to finish with minimal to no support; including the ability to coordinate between multiple (3-5) impact stakeholder groups.
• Working knowledge of cGMP and GAMP guidelines
• Experience developing software solutions for Biotech \Pharma processes and equipment
• Ability to build project schedules for medium to large projects.
• Ability to lead medium to large capital projects and Tech Transfers.
