This internship role is part of the Limitless @ Biogen program; the summer co-op for neurodiverse college students. ‘Neurodiversity’ includes neurological differences such as autism spectrum, ADHD and dyslexia. Applicants will not be asked for documentation or proof of neurodiversity, unless requesting an ADA accommodation. Limitless @ Biogen provides support for managers and interns throughout the 6-month co-op.

Job Description
This application is for a 6-month student role from July - December 2023. Resume review begins in February 2023.
Work within one of several departments in Biogen’s Product and Technology Development (PTD) organization engaged in laboratory activities supporting the development and characterization of therapeutic products, manufacturing processes or new technologies.
Position Description
The Co-op position provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience with scientific application development and exposure to spectroscopic and process modeling for Biogen’s mammalian cell culture processes. A large part of the work will involve application development in R-studio, data engineering, automated data extraction, filtering and staging of data, which are prerequisites of data analysis and modeling. You will work closely with process development, manufacturing science, IT and automation on real, everyday challenges in state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure.
You will work as part of Biogen’s Digital Development and Analytics group with process development engineers and scientists, as well as IT and automation experts to further improve and expand the capabilities of Biogen’s data management tools and infrastructure to further improve the efficiency and speed of process development activities by automating and validating repetitive tasks. You will support design, development and validation of new applications and implementations. Typical tools that you will use include R, Python, Statistica, SIMCA and others. You will help execute feasibility studies, organize and analyze data, and author reports and presentations.
Qualifications
- Affinity for IT, data engineering and statistics
- Prior experience with coding/scripting is a plus (R, Python, Matlab, C++)
- Experience and interest in modeling (spectroscopic and process modeling)
- Basic understanding of science and biotechnical or chemical processes
To participate in the Biogen Co-op Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited program and have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies by scheduled start date
Education
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Process Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, and related STEM majors
