About This Role

Reporting into the Senior Medical Manager - Neuromuscular, you will act as a scientific expert knowledgeable of Biogen products, disease state and competitors. Your role will be to engage in peer to peer scientific and value discussions with a broad group of stakeholders including KMEs, payors and relevant local/national health care decisions makers. 

The role is field based, and travel will be expected up to 60-70% of your time within your allocated territory (VIC / TAS / SA / WA and NT). You will represent an advanced field medical role, advancing field scientific strategies and serving as a role model to field medical teams. We are open to this role being based in either Melbourne or Sydney.

You will establish long term scientific/strategic relationships with leading specialists (physicians nurses, allied health, payors and healthcare decision makers), and with related medical societies and academic centers of excellence.

What You’ll Do  

1.  Key Medical Expert (KME) Engagement 

  • Execute high standards in stakeholder engagement using a multi-channel approach, balancing both face to face and digital interactions including the delivery of virtual engagements.
  • Identifies KMEs in specified therapeutic area and work in collaboration with respective commercial counterparts in engaging KMEs from a medical perspective
  • Develop, maintain and implement stakeholder engagement plans to build and maintain strong scientific relationships such that Biogen is recognised as an industry partner of choice

2.  Internal Collaboration

  • Work with relevant commercial counterparts to address regional/national needs from a medical perspective in alignment with both medical and commercial brand plans
  • Participate in respective integrated brand team meetings to provide in-field medical updates, trends, insights and competitor intelligence
  • Collaborate with relevant medical, commercial and value and access team to develop strategy and execute tactics on communication of complex scientific and health outcomes information to relevant stakeholders

3.  Scientific Data Knowledge, Health Outcomes Knowledge and Communication

  • Collaborate with Medical Managers and Market Access to generate high quality approved medical scientific and value presentations aligned to medical strategy
  • Lead in the review Biogen literature alerts and work with Product Managers and sales force effectiveness responsible for education of sales teams on relevant literature alerts
  • Discuss, analyse and educate on appropriate medical, scientific and health outcomes publications and clinical study findings in collaboration with Medical Manager

4.  Compliance

  • Ensure speaker briefings, contracts and slide review processes adhere to SOP
  • Understand the expectations and maintain compliance in the field medical interaction role
  • Maintain compliance within the Medicines Australia and Biogen frameworks and codes of conduct

Who You Are

You are a strong communicator with the ability to communicate complex data to different audiences. You have well developed functional and technical skills and describe yourself as a strong team player and collaborator. You are a real people person who is always focused on what’s best for both internal and external customers. Critical to your success is your broad understanding of health economics and understanding of current digital tools and techniques and their implementation. You will have previous experience working with market access and/or joint project experience with MA.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Pharmacy or Medicine
  • Clinical & scientific acumen typically developed through acquisition of advanced degree & post graduate work.
  • Therapeutic Area knowledge/ experience preferred
  • 5+ years of MSL experience if hired externally, 3+ years of experience if internal employee
  • Medical business savvy and customer focused while remaining non-promotional
