About This Role
The Senior Training Manager (STM) role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing training programs for the MS Franchise which increases the skills, knowledge, and behaviors of commercial customer-facing roles. This includes all new hire and ongoing training, product launches, national, divisional, and regional meetings, distance learning programs, instructor-led programs, and other identified training opportunities.
In this role, the STM will work closely with sales and marketing team members to ensure a thorough understanding of products in the marketplace and develop training to support. The STM will work with other training team members, sales and family access field force trainers, field leadership, marketing, operations, and other strategic partners to develop and deliver training that helps drive business results.
What You’ll Do
• Design and develop training content to support new hire learning needs utilizing a blended virtual and live learning approach
• Identify and create content for MS product launches, subsequently facilitating training for identified field-based commercial employees
• Analyze and evaluate training programs and materials for continuing education of sales, family access, and reimbursement field teams
• Align workshop content for National/Regional meetings with strategic imperatives to support tactical implementation of brand strategies
• Gain a thorough understanding of products, competitors, payer considerations, and prioritize training accordingly
• Work closely with marketing and operations to support rollout of new initiatives and resources
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Legal, Regulatory and Compliance to secure approvals of select content
• Partner with Sales Leadership to understand learning priorities for successful customer engagements and account management success
• Manager external vendors to build high quality learning content; ensure delivery on time and within set budget
• Engage broadly within Commercial Learning and Field Force Trainers to ensure consistent alignment and pull-through
• Apply principles of adult learning for training effectiveness and access resources to keep up to date on industry best practices
• Work across larger US Commercial learning team and Global to identify materials/resources to support needs equally
• Be accountable for building a concrete understanding of Biogen’s elements and ongoing efforts around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
• Actively participate in DE&I Inclusion initiatives, such as Employee Resource Networks programming, to reinforce HR’s commitment to an inclusive, engaging environment
Qualifications
Who You Are
You are experienced in pharmaceutical or biotech sales and have a passion for training. You thrive working in a fast-paced matrixed environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously while effectively collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders. You love coaching and developing team members.
- 7+ years of professional experience required; including 3-5 years in Commercial Pharmaceutical or Biotech (sales preferred)
- 1-2 years of training experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry desirable
- MS Disease experience is preferred
- Launch experience is preferred
- Ability to teach, coach and develop people in complex sales organization
- Ability to collaborate and execute in a matrixed environment
- Understanding of the selling process – ability to comprehend and execute sales processes
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, complete on time and on budget
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to prioritize, possess high attention to detail and is succinct and efficient
- Results oriented with high standards and achievement of stretch goals
- Proficient with MS Office and a variety of Platforms for Virtual Learning (i.e., Teams, Zoom, etc.)
- Experience with Veeva Vault or other content approval tools/systems
- Ability to think critically and strategically with personal accountability for results and integrity
- Bachelor’s degree required

The base compensation range for this role is $124,500 to $200,500. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
