About This Role
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a medical field-based role with a split of field and project medical affairs-based activities. You will report directly to the Biosimilars Medical Lead, Associate Director within the UK/IRE affiliate. In this role you will be committed to contributing to the enrichment and execution of the medical strategy as approved by the UK/IRE affiliate in concordance with the global medical strategy.
As MSL, you will focus on developing strong, sustainable relationships with external stakeholders to provide scientific, medical, and educational support, reinforcing the scientific and clinical credibility of Biogen’s Biosimilar portfolio. You will contribute to the company success through both internal and external medical education and medical/scientific information exchange in line with the company medical strategy. This role will include a diverse pipeline across various therapeutic areas inckuding product launches, giving the opportunity for you to gain exposure across a variety of products and therapy areas (TAs) at different stages of the product lifecycle.
What You’ll Do
- Acts as a trusted and credible scientific discussion partner by engaging in scientific/ medical exchange with HCPs/ stakeholders as appropriate
- Maintain and develop scientific relationships with KOLS/KMEs
- Execute medical tactical plan according to strategy including
- Development and implementation of key medical activities (e.g. advisory boards, medical education)
- Development of scientific content/materials
- Depending upon local requirements and regulations, this may include:
- Proactive or reactive focused communication / education relating to Biogen Biosimilar portfolio and /or Biogen therapy areas of interest
- Legitimate exchange of medical and scientific information during the development of a medicine
- Delivery of relevant medical education meetings in line with the medical strategy
- Gather unmet medical needs to inform medical strategy
- Coordinate Sponsored research agreements/Investigator initiated trials in the assigned geographic area
- Cross functional collaboration (e.g., sales, market access or regulatory affairs)
- Support the patient services programmes in UK/Ireland
- Stays up to date with therapy advances, current research, medical scientific knowledge, and detailed knowledge on Biogen products & relevant Disease Areas

You are a passionate and experienced Medical Affairs professional with hands on MSL experience who builds and maintains strong relationships with both external and internal stakeholders. You are proactive, creative, use your own initiative and are confident to challenge and put your own ideas forward.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- BSc; Advanced degree preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP in medical specialty) or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Previous experience as an MSL within the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent medical affairs experience required
- Technical knowledge in one of the therapeutic areas including Ophthalmology, Rheumatology, Immunology/Dermatology and Gastroenterology
- Knowledge and experience in working with ABPI/IPHA code
- Clinical trials experience and good understanding of clinical trial data and study design
- Experience of working with HCP's in both 1:1 and group settings
