About This Role
The Project Manager acts as an expert on Project Management methods and tools to prioritize, advise, or lead cross-functional, global projects that improve the delivery capability and efficiency of Biogen operations.  The position requires strong collaboration, communication, leadership, and change management skills as well as experience driving business change projects. This position reports to the Director, Portfolio and Program Management and is a remote role with a preference for Eastern Time Zone.

What You’ll Do
•    Work with business partners to proactively identify, prioritize, facilitate, and lead projects which drive continuous improvement
•    Engage in strategic discussions and provides recommendations based upon work analysis with quantified opportunities to drive business optimization. Synthesizes results, drives conclusions, makes recommendations to senior management, and implements change
•    Document and present project conclusions and deliverables to business, functions, and management with recommendations.  Demonstrate proficiency via effectively presenting complex topics in an easy-to-understand manner and via facilitation of meetings with representatives from all levels of the business
•    Create solid business cases and selling messages that articulate the value propositions of a project/program.  Successfully advocate and support the change
•    Lead multiple/complex implementations by developing and executing well-structured work plans, facilitate project and sponsor meetings, manage project budget/expenses, use continuous improvement tools/methodologies and Project Management tools/methodologies
•    Holds direct and/or indirect accountability for management of the budget for one or several projects or programs
•    Lead, manage, and influence others to deliver projects on-time and within budget to achieve specified goals and objectives
•    Facilitate issue resolution and escalation via coordinating solution development across the project team, steering committee, and business stakeholders
•    Analyze problem root causes and recommend solutions to improve process delivery
•    Conduct process mapping, design and conduct process metrics to capture and quantify project findings and process improvements, and conduct process benchmarking.  Recommend and implement methods to demonstrate and sustain improvements through metric and control monitoring.
•    Ability to manage and inspire a cross-functional, global project team
•    Motivate, mentor, and teach others the principles and tools of Project Management with the ability to share examples across end-to-end processes, offer alternatives, and provide constructive feedback to create a culture of continuous improvement throughout Biogen
 

Qualifications

Who You Are
You are an experienced project manager who has led business optimization projects globally.  You are solution oriented, consultative and comfortable working with senior level stakeholders. 

The ideal candidate for the role will have the following experiences:
•    Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, ideally working in progressive global business optimization projects
•    Life sciences/bio pharma work experience would be a plus
•    Proven experience in working with business owners to determine business requirements for systems
•    Proven ability to create solid project plans and to manage full lifecycle of project execution with rigor and discipline around deliverables, timelines and budget
•    Experience in global project implementation
•    Ability to lead and manage large and small projects across diverse suite of business process areas and operational topics
•    Solid financial acumen and ability to develop business cases
•    Outstanding ability to diagnose problems that may be related to process, technology, strategy, or people and to put in place a clear plan to overcome the problem
•    Ability to formulate and articulate a perspective and present it in a manner that generates understanding and alignment
•    Strong interpersonal skills, ability to handle conflict situations effectively and an ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
•    Self-motivated and capable of operating independently with limited oversight.  Strong sense of personal accountability for work tasks
•    Comfortable acting in a role as individual contributor and influencer 
•    Comfort dealing with ambiguity and a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment

Education: 
A Bachelor’s degree in Business (or Management), Operations, computer systems or related discipline is required

Global Business Services

The base compensation range for this role is $93,700 to $150,900.  Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job related years of relevant experience, internal equity, and location of the job. Additionally, this role is eligible for participation in Biogen’s LTI grants and other incentive programs.
