Job Description

This application is for a 6-month student role from January - June 2023. Resume review begins in October 2022.

Position Description

The Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) Team sits within the Worldwide Medical Operations business. The key function of the GRC Team is to identify areas of potential risks within the Medical organization and put in place appropriate controls (guidance, training, systems/tools) to reduce the potential risks from happening. Additionally, our team fosters an understanding for Compliance and Governance within Medical through collaboration with several Corporate Control Functions at Biogen.

In this position, you will gain an introduction to medical operations and core medical operations activities from a governance risk and control perspective.

  • This position will play a key role in supporting the development and roll out of a global Medical Engagements required training and a interactive WM Engagements Guidebook 
  • Contribute towards the execution of the 2023 Training and Communication Plan activities
  • Build out of the Chatbot functionality (AI for FAQS)
  • Contribute towards management of the WM Written Standards inventory, update and maintain the tracker for adherence to review cycles (policies, SOPs, work instructions, job aids)
  • Maintain and update the GRC Issue Tracker. Align and communicate with the Leads ensuring all information is accurately captured in the tool and help standardize and document the data input process
  • Contribute to the execution of the annual risk assessment activities within Worldwide Medical.
  • Support with various departmental initiatives

Example projects may include:

  • Project 1 Change management role out of training
  • Project 2 GRC Issue Tracker and WM Written Standards Tracker management and process standardization  
  • Project 3 WM Engagements Guidebook development and rollout

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Self-motivated with an appetite to learn
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to frame issues, problem solve and manage projects
  • Self-awareness of communication style and cultural differences
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience with general office software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Preferred data analytics skills and training experience

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

Education

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Major: Business Management, Management of Information Systems, Healthcare Administration or Economics
