Job Description
This application is for a 6-month student role from January - June 2023. Resume review begins in October 2022.
The Co-op will be working with the Advanced Analytics (AA) team within Biogen Digital Health. The AA includes a group of staff members with PhD in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology and other related areas and multiple statistical programmers. The primary responsibilities of AA include all post-approval analytics including but not limited to post-approval safety studies (PASS), comparative effectiveness research, and prediction modeling for risk stratification. In addition, AA is also responsible for a number of projects on digital health including digital biomarker investigation, development digital endpoints, intervention and monitoring using digital tools.
Position Description
In this Co-op role, you will be primarily responsible for descriptive and inferential statistical analysis and some data management for one or more projects using data from randomized clinical trials, real world databases and other types of studies. You will be working with one or more team leaders on projects they oversee. The main day to day responsibilities include going to meetings to discuss and understand what analysis needs to be done for what kind output format (e.g. summary report in word, slide deck or other formats) in meetings that include cross-functional colleagues; discussing analytical strategies and tactics with team leaders/members within AA; retrieving and managing analytical data and executing the analysis; generating output. In addition, you will also have opportunities to participate in discussions and meetings on other projects you are not primarily responsible for to get more exposure on various research topics in Biogen.
As an example, a typical project that fits the scope of this Co-op involve analysis of longitudinal trend of both clinical and digital measures to characterize their similarity and difference. Another example is statistical programming on post-hoc analyses of randomized trials.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a PhD or Master program in Biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, economics or related program and have completed the majority of the coursework
- Proficient in R, Python or SAS
- Knowledge in longitudinal and prediction modeling is preferred
- Knowledge in neurological diseases such as neuromuscular diseases, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and mental health is preferred

- Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
