Job Description
As the Associate Director, Epidemiology, you will work within a small, dedicated epidemiology team housed in the Analytics and Data Sciences (ADS) organization to provide expert epidemiologic support (conceptual, methodological and statistical) to, among others, clinical development, safety physicians, and other stakeholders across the company.
What You’ll Do
- Design and analysis of observational studies; registries and post-marketing surveillance and identification of opportunities for population-based disease understanding; safety signal detection; pharmacovigilance; and risk management activities.
- Interact directly with drug development and post-market program teams to provide concrete deliverables to aid in decision making, progress the program, and meet regulatory requirements.
- Report to a Director, Epidemiology.
Who You Are
You are an Epidemiologist who can work in a multi-disciplinary team setting and who employs a team approach to decision making. You pay close attention to detail, and you have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- PhD or ScD (Doctorate in Science) in epidemiology
- Genetic Epidemiology experience required
- 3+ years relevant research experience with 1+ years work experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry or equivalent.
- Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry in general and specific to epidemiology; prior work as an epidemiologist in the pharmaceutical sector
- Expertise in the design, conduct, analysis, interpretation, and communication of observational studies
- Experience designing and conducting data base studies for data mining or epidemiologic research (using longitudinal national databases (eg. NCHS), claims databases or electronic medical records for epidemiologic research); conducting, reviewing, and critiquing epidemiologic literature
- Experience using longitudinal national databases (eg. NCHS), claims databases or electronic medical records for epidemiologic research
- Working knowledge of guidance, legal and regulatory principles applicable to safety surveillance and pharmacoepidemiology
- Ability to resourcefully provide estimates of incidence and prevalence of health conditions, disease progression and disease-specific risk factors
- Understanding of PSURs, pharmacovigilance, and Risk Management plans
- Strong epidemiologic analytical skills demonstrated by expertise in epidemiologic analyses using SAS or STATA
- Experience with questionnaire and case report form design
- Upon and if conditions permit, ability to travel domestically and internationally to company, scientific, regulatory, investigator, and other meetings; and ability to engage with multiple stakeholders virtually as required (~10% of time)
