About this role

The Application Specialist is member of a Global Commercial & Medical IT team that leads integrated services, projects, programs, technology assets management and architecture design. Primary customers include Commercial, Medical, Marketing, Value & Access, and Patient Services business organizations, among 30+ countries in global Biogen office and field locations.

This role is accountable for leading ongoing change management delivery for Biogen’s global Customer Master Data Management solutions (Veeva Network, Gaine Coperor e-MDM): acts as technical subject matter expert, provides assessment of requested changes, leads the development team and coordinates delivery.

What you’ll do

Key responsibilities will include:

Analyzing: Assess and document change requests, clarify requirements, assess feasibility and delivery options, discuss trade-offs.

Defining: Define solution designs addressing business requirements, current issues and challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Actively Driving: Actively drive ongoing change releases and ensure alignment release deliverables, schedule, quality, dependencies and risks. Lead onshore and offshore delivery teams. Execute selected changes.

Operating: assist in incident management and problem management by providing subject matter expertise, root cause analysis and fix recommendations.

Communicating: Clearly communicate design decisions, drivers and tradeoffs. project status, schedule, risks, issues, and changes/resolutions – keeping all stakeholders involved and informed on a regular basis.

The Application Specialist is an expert in their application and knows how to get things done – both hands-on as well as by coordinating delivery team and working with other teams involved. The individual in this role must communicate design choices, consequences and trade-offs clearly, in a language that business colleagues understand.

Qualifications

Required Experience and Skills

  • 5 years of relevant experience in systems analysis and development. Experience and skills should include:
  • 3 years of experience in change management and solution design
  • 2 years of experience leading delivery teams
  • 2 years of hands-on experience with at least one leading Master Data Management solution.
    • Ideally (but not mandatory), managing Customer master data for Health Care Providers (HCPs) / Health Care Organizations (HCOs) / Commercial Patients using Veeva Network MDM or Gaine Coperor e-MDM.
  • Experience working in diverse, international teams, with stakeholders across the globe.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical capabilities with ability to understand commercial business information, logically structure them into IT elements that build practical solutions, identify root causes of issues, conduct troubleshooting, and perform impact analysis.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

Additional (nice to have, but not mandatory experience):

  • Experience with internal and external integrations of MDM systems (ETL, REST APIs).
  • Understanding of master data management, data quality, privacy and information governance topics will be considered a plus.
  • Experience with other Veeva products (CRM, Vault) or Salesforce will be considered a plus, but is not a must.
  • Experience in similar role in a Life Sciences company or consulting / service delivery for Life Sciences customers will be considered a plus.

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business Management, or a directly related field
