Job Description

As the Sr. Image Analyst. you manage transfers and processing of medical image data files from Biogen-contracted external vendors and partners. The imaging transfers are collected in support of research projects and clinical development. You ensure alignment of the received data files with the expected inventory from the study performed, leveraging a secure transfer for receipt. As the Sr. Image Analyst, you will code processing scripts to assess the data quality (QC) summarize and organize the data to enable data use for analysis. You will collaborate with scientists to enable analytics, including participating in the sharing of Biogen imaging data with internal and external analytics stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Produce coded scripts for automated QC and processing of medium to large medical image datasets. These scripts not only assess the quality and completeness of received imaging data, but also can reorganize the hierarchical structure of the data, and extract and package image data to align with internal and external image data sharing requests.
  • Participate in image data transfer specification review in coordination with imaging operations team and image data supplier.
  • Coordinate with imaging operations team, imaging scientists and external organizations to resolve quality issues and missing data discovered in image transfers. Works with team members to ensure uniformity in deliverables, across all types of imaging data.
  • Liaise with external individuals to troubleshoot access to Biogen’s secure transfer platform.

Who You Are

You are an Image Analyst who has strong experience with image data types and image files and who uses your effective written and oral communication skills to collaborate with scientists and external analytics vendors.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 year’s work experience; Master’s degree with 2 year’s work experience (preferred), in Biomedical and Biomedical Engineering or other related scientific fields.
  • Experience with image data types including dicom, nifti, minc
  • Experience reviewing and organizing imaging data in a Linux environment using computer scripting that may include shell scripting, Python or R.
  • 2-5 years’ experience coding, including shell scripting, Python, R or similar languages.
  • Direct experience in working with a high volume of image files
  • 2-3 years’ experience with imaging data tools that may include dicom toolkit dcmtk, pydicom, minc toolkit Ideal toolkit (ITK), Matlab or Osirix
  • Knowledge of patient privacy processes

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of clinical trial data handling, extending to imaging data, in a regulated environment (Good Clinical Practice (GCP)).
  • Exposure to large dataset processing tools to analyze multi-terabyte datasets.
  • Understanding of deidentification techniques and their application within medical imaging.
