About This Role

The Consultant, Learning Design (Instructional Designer) plays a critical role as part of the Patient Services Learning Team in developing the learning content in in support of the Patient Services (PS) organization at Biogen.  The individual works with PS operational and functional leaders to represent Learning to consult, design, and develop learning content that support the knowledge, skills, and competencies of our PS colleagues.  
The ID is responsible for partnering to understand learning needs, gather subject matter expertise to support the development of learning content.  (S)he owns the own primary responsibility for building learning content in a manner that supports adult learners with respect to disease, product, and process knowledge.  The ID is responsible determining the best learning modality to fit the need and create/develop the learning content in a manner appropriate for submission for required for Legal, Regulatory, Medical and Compliance review and approval.
   
What You’ll Do
•    Develop all internal training content for the Patient Services organization to support their patient engagement discussions
•    Manage the design and development of training content utilizing adult learning principles with a variety of different modalities (e-learnings, instructor led, virtual instructor led, gamification, videos, etc)
•    Consult directly with business stakeholders, training team, and subject matter experts to understand needs and recommend instructional design approaches based on defined learning objectives and expertise
•    Perform ongoing assessments and evaluate learning surveys to understand effectiveness and adapt for continuous improvement of learning resources
•    Manage the development, implementation and ongoing review and revision of policies, standards, documentation and processes to ensure training materials meet minimum standards of excellence and consistency.  
•    Manage all Patient Services training submissions to Project Review Committee for Medical, Legal, Regulatory review and approval.  
•    Maintain and manage the design, content, and functionality of the learning content within the Learning Management System (LMS) 
•    Create and develop training initiatives to meet internal and external benchmark standards of a high performing training department 
•    Apply knowledge of design and content creation to develop standards, templates for consistent high quality content creation.
•    Oversee/approve work of external learning vendors and act as consultant on technical requirements required for content hosted within the LMS.
•    Be accountable for building a concrete understanding of Biogen’s stance and efforts around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, as well as integrate DE&I strategies into the talent lifecycle (e.g. talent management, hiring, compensation)
•    Actively participate in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives, such as Employee Resource Networks programming, to reinforce HR’s commitment to an inclusive, engaging environment 

•    3-5 years professional experience in learning/Instructional Design required
•    Biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
•    Performance consulting experience, learning expertise, and a demonstrated ability to successfully design programs
•    Ability to determine appropriate learning strategy and modality (instructor led, virtual instructor-led, online, gamification, workshops, videos, etc); develop and implement learning solutions and programs
•    Experience using instructional technologies such as Articulate 360, Rise, Brainshark, SimpleShow, Game Agency, Kahoot and video tools
•    Strong proficiency using all MS Office applications
•    Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS)
•    Ability to work independently and across a matrixed organization
•    Agility with ability to work in fast paced environment
•    Prioritization skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Education
Bachelor’s degree required. Focus on instructional design is preferred
