About This Role

In this role you will provide basic Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) program and administrative support to Biogen’s RTP Pharma facility.

Specifically, this position will provide support to ensure that site EHS programs comply with Biogen’s EHS management system and external regulatory requirements (i.e., OSHA, EPA, etc.).  You will also support IT tools used by EHS for implementation of the site’s EHS training programs, event reporting, document management, and continued maintenance of the site EHS Management System. 

You will perform routine EHS inspections, delivers training, coordinates safety champion meetings, manages safety data sheets and chemical inventories, and maintains EHS documents, permits and licenses under the direction of program owners.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide basic support of EHS programs and projects as assigned to ensure continuous improvement and support of RTP Pharma operations.  Examples include physical safety reviews, industrial hygiene monitoring, hazard communication, lab safety, personal protective equipment, and various environmental programs aimed at improving the EHS performance at the site and ensuring compliance with Biogen EHS Management systems initiatives and applicable external regulations.
  • Manage the site EHS training catalog in Biogen University (BU) including modifying existing course details, maintaining course assignments consistent with global and site training matrix, and other infrastructure in the system.
  • Manage site EHS documents in myCIMS; initiate and administer workflows; edit/format documents for adherence to templates before submitting for review.  
  • Oversee site use of myEHS for event reporting including tracking completion of investigations, open actions, assigning and tracking completion of area inspections, maintaining site legal register and compliance calendar, and running reports.  
  • Review invoices, tracks spending against budget, create POs and contracts (with requesters), submit monthly accruals and check requests, etc. 
  • Act as project manager for special events and meetings related to EHS initiatives such as Earth Month, Wellness events, and Safety Days; responsible for working with site EHS to define the vision of events, create content as requested, coordinate event setup, and interacts with employees.

Required Skills

Associate II

  • Bachelor (EHS or Life Sciences) or related fields with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Practical knowledge and application of OSHA and other general safety and health regulatory requirements.

Associate III

  • Bachelor (EHS or Life Sciences) or related fields with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Practical knowledge and application of OSHA and other general safety and health regulatory requirements.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Biotech or pharmaceutical environment
