The MSL role is field based customer facing role, activities should be Key medical expert (KME) focused with the intent to maximize medical one on one interactions with HCPs. Approximately 80% field work is expected in the role

–       Acts as a scientific expert knowledgeable of Biogen products, disease state and competitors

–       Establishes long term scientific/strategic relationships with leading specialists (physicians nurses, allied health), and with related medical societies and academic centers of excellence

–       Ensures KMEs and organizations have access to relevant scientific information

–       Facilitates KME involvement in educational forums and advisory boards to optimize scientific knowledge exchange

Accountabilites:

1.        Key Medical Experts (KMEs) Engagement

-       Identify KMEs in specified therapeutic area and work in collaboration with respective commercial counterparts in engaging KMEs from a medical perspective

-       Develop, maintain and implement KME engagement plans to build and maintain strong scientific relationships such that Biogen is recognized as an industry partner of choice

-       Gather insights from KMEs that inform business strategy including market access

-       Plan KME visits and utilize the CRM database to record HCP interactions

-       Provide current, accurate and balanced scientific education to HCPs and facilitate data discussions in relevant therapeutic areas

-       Provide scientific presentations to individual physicians or groups of physicians, e.g. scientific seminars, round table, journal clubs

-       Source and brief international and local speakers for national and state meetings according to internal process

-       Reactively explore & facilitate clinician driven ideas for Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs)

-       Act as a liaison between investigators and Biogen ensuring regular communication regarding the progress of IIT proposals

2.        Internal collaboration

-       Work with relevant commercial counterparts to address specific regional needs from a medical perspective in alignment with both medical and commercial brand plans

-       Record all healthcare professional (HCP) interactions and track MSL activity in the CRM database

-       Participate in respective integrated brand team meetings to provide in-field medical updates, trends, insights and competitor intelligence

-       Contribute to medical training for commercial team

-       Collaborate with relevant medical and commercial team/s to develop strategy and execute tactics on communication of complex scientific information to relevant healthcare professionals

-       Collaborate with Medical research Operations (MRO) and local medical team with respect to study execution e. g. site identification, Site Initiation visits

-       Collaborate with Medical lead to drive approval and set-up of appropriate IITs

-       Regularly (at least monthly) liaise with other medical and commercial team/s to ensure consistency and alignment in strategy/tactics

3.        Scientific Data Knowledge and communication

-         Collaborate with medical lead to generate high quality approved medical and scientific presentations aligned to medical strategy

-         Keep abreast of relevant medical literature. Review Biogen literature alerts

-         Discuss, analyze and educate on appropriate medical and scientific publications and clinical study findings in collaboration with Medical lead

-         As per requested attend national and international conferences and provide a medical summary of these conferences to internal stakeholders

4.        Compliance

-         Ensure speaker briefings, contracts and slide review processes adhere to SOP

-         Maintain compliance within local regulation and Biogen frameworks and codes of conduct

-         Maintain 100% training compliance on all allocated courses and internal SOPs.

-           Academic background in science, pharmacy or medicine.

-           Advanced degree preferred (PhD, PharmD) or equivalent combination of experience and education

-           >= 5 years experience in medical or clinical affairs

-           Experience in neuroscience TA in Medical (pharmaceutical or CRO) or Medical studies preferred
