Job Description

This application is for a 6-month student role from July - December 2022. Employees can work remotely from anywhere in the contiguous U.S., or choose to work on-site.

In Biogen’s Human Genetics group, statistical geneticists, genetic epidemiologists, and clinical geneticists work together with molecular biologists, computational biologists, bioinformaticians, and clinicians to identify and prioritize novel drug targets, and advance drug targets toward clinical development. We leverage our understanding of human genetics and genomics, disease biology, and cutting-edge technologies for deeper analysis of pathogenic mechanisms.

We seek a talented Co-op with strong analytical and communication skills to help identify and prioritize drug targets for neurodegenerative diseases.

Position Description

We seek a talented co-op to apply their computational skills for target identification and prioritization. As a co-op, you will:

  • Apply and further refine an existing pipeline for statistical genetic analyses (colocalization)
  • Leverage an internal database that contains GWAS and QTL genome-wide summary statistics from internal unpublished data and publicly available data
  • Ingest additional data into the GWAS/QTL database
  • Develop a pipeline to creatively visualize genetic analysis results

Results from this project will contribute towards identifying and ranking therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative disease.

You will meet weekly with their mentor to discuss experiments and results and be given the opportunity to present their results internally.

Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
