Job Description
The (Associate Director) Global Product Communications Lead, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Franchise is responsible for external and internal strategic communications initiatives that shape both the environment and Biogen’s reputation in order to build a competitive edge and highlight the company’s robust MS portfolio. The person in this role is accountable for the development and implementation of a global, integrated corporate affairs strategy with a focus on strengthening Biogen’s leadership in the MS space with a franchise encompassing fumarates, interferons, among others. In addition, this role will support U.S. business needs, including storytelling and local/national media opportunities.
The individual will lead market shaping initiatives, creative brand communications, reputation building, and issues management related to the MS Franchise. They will support Biogen’s affiliates around the globe in helping to raise the Company’s profile by developing communication strategies for the MS franchise.
The Global Product Communications Lead must demonstrate domain expertise in Biogen’s therapeutic areas and closely collaborate with Corporate Affairs partners in media relations, social media, internal, corporate communications, and patient advocacy. The individual will be responsible for providing strategic council to the MS brand teams while serving as the disease expert and central point of contact in the Corporate Affairs function.
This position requires strong collaboration and networking across Biogen. As a member of the Core Global Patient Advocacy and External Communications Team, this role will work cross-functionally with colleagues in global, regional and in the Biogen affiliates.
This role is based in the company’s headquarters located in Cambridge, MA and reports into the Senior Director, Patient Advocacy and External Communications.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience in a variety of corporate affairs disciplines
- Creativity in digital and innovative storytelling
- Ability to work in a geographical and culturally diverse environment
- Flexible to find the right balance in working strategically and executing; agile and hands-on mentality; enjoys a fast-paced, often unpredictable environment
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively within a matrix team and with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders on complex issues
- Strong business acumen in pharma/biotech industry
