Currently, the US BBU team is looking for a Strategic Accounts Executive US BBU, to manage productivity within key external accounts, contributing toward our vision of being a leader in US Biosimilars.

Job Description

The Strategic Account Executive (SAE) will be responsible for the development and execution of key accounts and external key stakeholders in collaboration with the respective RD to ensure long term success and profitability of the US BBU portfolio at the Region Level.  The SAE is responsible for facilitating a ONE BIOGEN strategic engagement approach for the key accounts in their territory.   He or she will identify opportunities and evolving trends that create mutually beneficial collaborations where patient access to care increases and quality of care improves.   The SAE is responsible for regular interactions with key accounts, HCPs and Administrators in order to understand and collaborate on account needs.  The SAE is expected to interact routinely and collaboratively with the local commercial teams and cross-functional partners to improve engagement in the accounts and increase Biogen trust and value with our Key Accounts.  Key Accounts may include high complexity/high volume Corporate Parents and Affiliates, KMEs, Private Equity Owners, IDNs, Retina Academic Centers, Hospitals, and Institutions.

 What You’ll Do:    

  • Serve as the regional reimbursement resource for targeted customer accounts providing both technical & practical advice to avert or resolve reimbursement issues.  This includes in-depth understanding of both public and private payer policy coverage determination criteria.
  • Works with accounts to gain a deep understanding of business dynamics and negotiate contract strategies that support mutual business goals.
  • Functional knowledge in billing, coding, reimbursement, and patient access administrative issues related to site of care accounts/facilities (i.e., hospitals, academic centers, clinics, physician offices, etc.)  The SAE will educate and support site of care accounts/facilities, healthcare practitioners and staff members on procurement, billing, and delivery processes as well as reimbursement, payer policy requirements when appropriate.
  • Educate prescriber and site of care accounts on GPO and specialty distributor requirements and options for procurement to identify potential opportunities to improve administration.
  • Understand local payer payment trends, policies, and relationships to assist product adoption. 
  • Work with internal cross-functional partners (MA&R, Marketing) to assist in implementing pull-through and push-through programs designed to maximize payer coverage.
  • Conduct key account reimbursement presentations to provide reimbursement information as well as local payer status updates.
  • Will proactively provide account level insight reviews to improve patient access & retention to therapy.
  • Ability to deliver effective C-suite level, site of care and practice management executive discussions related to various health care topics impacting account access and reimbursement.
  • Ability to negotiate effective contracts that support the business unit strategy while improving patient access and outcomes.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve problems using diplomacy, poise, and tact.
  • Ability to manage multiple and different strategic reimbursement projects, including ability to reprioritize work quickly to meet objectives.
  • Ability to monitor and report on the regulatory environment.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of the Region Strategic Account Plan with the Regional Director.
  • Demonstrates peer leadership with local field teams, Regional Directors, cross-functional partners, and internal leadership. Responsible for elevating the level of engagement between all Biogen stakeholders at Key accounts.
  • Proactively communicates updates and trends to all relevant commercial partners
  • Gathers insights from accounts/customers and serves as a rapid conduit of information back to region colleagues and the broader organization.
  • Maintains substantial expertise on Healthcare Marketplace and US Government Policy
  • Aligns US BBU activities to the most current commercial direction.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Education: BS/BA Required, MBA Preferred
  • Minimum 7-10+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience in cross functional roles i.e., sales, sale management, market access
  • Ideally 2+ years of experience in Retina, Immunology or Buy & Bill healthcare models
  • Reimbursement account management experience highly preferred, experience navigating complex accounts critical for success
  • Technical knowledge of health care reimbursement from a patient and provider perspective
  • Ability to identify issues quickly and develop recommendations to resolve in a timely, compliant manner.
  • Strong presentation skills. Ability to clearly and succinctly convey his/her ideas to either groups or individuals
  • Knowledgeable in current and possible future healthcare policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting his/her business and organization
  • Strong regional and national Managed Care knowledge
  • Strong organizational and communication skills- ability to navigate communication between US BBU and external customers
  • Advanced understanding of compliance with OIG & regulatory requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Driving is an essential duty of this job; candidates must have a valid driver’s license to be considered.
  • The Strategic Account Executive (SAE) will be field based and require significant travel that may extent from 40-80% depending on the territory geography, customer requirements, meetings and required training.
