Job Description

You will be responsible for the management of a broad range of packaging process, leading Technology Transfers and Process Changes, as well as being Subject Matter Expert supporting the manufacturing of commercial products. This includes being leading partner in continuous improvement.  Activities will take place within and across the organization and towards CMO’s.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide SME support and technical / scientific leadership to processes at CMO’s in collaboration with External Manufacturing, and handle complexity regarding products, processes, CMOs and stakeholders.
  • Coordinating and driving activities at multiple commercial Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs)
  • Subject Matter Expert in the commercialization of new packaging systems for new launches and commercial products.
  • Support external-manufacturing sites (commercial CMO’s) regarding development, qualification, and implementation of packaging solutions as well as packaging & transport processes.
  • Support external quality and global procurement with the selection and qualification of globally relevant suppliers (provide input about the packaging relevant technical capabilities)
  • Author key design control documentation including validation strategies and protocols to enable successful commercialization
  • Professionally handle and balance competing interests and potentially rapid change of strategies.
  • Cover all aspects from readiness, over execution to lessons-learned - providing clear project management leadership during the entire process.
  • Lead global process changes and technology transfer and provide 2nd and 3rd line support to resolve Deviations and process disruptions including in cases of potential product impact.
  • Lead and coordinate activities coming to/from internal to external CMO's and between CMO's and support other major process change projects internally and at CMO's.

The success of this function requires effective collaborations with Early and Late-Stage Pharmaceutical Development, External Manufacturing, Marketing, Supply Chain, Packaging Development Operations, Regulatory, etc., by providing technical expertise, project leadership and ongoing support to resolve issues and introduce new technologies and processes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or material science.
  • 10+ years of experience within Finished Goods and Packaging manufacturing processes, equipment, and/or a relevant project management function.
  • Experience with project management along with a strong background in engineering and high-volume automation.
  • Experience with DFM, Lean/Six Sigma, and use of statistical packages, and be able to handle data.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office applications, particularly MS Project, MS SharePoint, and MS Excel.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MS’s degree in engineering or material science.
  • 5+ years of experience within Finished Goods and Packaging manufacturing processes, equipment, and/or a relevant project management function
