Job Description
This application is for a 6-month student role from July - December 2022. Resume review begins in January 2022.
Work within one of several departments in Biogen’s Product and Technology Development (PTD) organization engaged in laboratory activities supporting the development and characterization of therapeutic products, manufacturing processes or new technologies.
Position Description
The Analytical Development group leverages new technologies in developing robust methods to characterize our products. This intern position provides an exciting opportunity to work in an Analytical Development group, acquire hands-on experience with next generation sequencing technology and gain unique insights into gene therapy programs that are under development at Biogen.
As an intern, you will work with a group of scientists to evaluate new sequencing technologies, develop data processing pipelines and analyze sequencing datasets for gene therapy products. You will help improve existing data processing pipelines by developing new methods tailored to specific characteristics of the viral genome. You will help interpret data, participate in group discussions, author reports and make presentations in internal meetings.
Qualifications
- Strong R/Python programming skills are required
- Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis is preferred
To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
Education
- Current enrollment in an M.S. or Ph.D. program. Ph.D. students preferred.
- Majoring in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or similar fields.
