About This Role

The Medical Excellence Director, Digital is responsible, at the direction of the Head of US Medical Excellence, to facilitate the highest level of performance attainable for the US Medical Teams by strategically aligning Medical efforts to Medical value and execution. The Medical Excellence Director, Digital will identify areas of opportunity for improvement and barriers that affect the US Medical Department’s ability to perform at a high level.  This individual will plan, design, and implement innovative digital solutions that distinguish Biogen’s US Medical Teams from others in the industry.  Biogen’s priority is to continue to foster and enable a diverse and inclusive workforce – representing age, gender, sexual identity, race, ethnicity, Veterans, and people with disabilities – that reflects the communities where we operate and the patients who we serve.

What You’ll Do

·       Drive evolution of US Field Medical through leading the development, planning & implementation of multichannel engagement strategies, tools, and resources to enhance Field Medical planning and execution to enable consistency and greater effectiveness across US Medical functions.

• Lead and collaborate in the development of digital tools and innovative technology designed to enhance external and internal Field Medical engagement to maximize stakeholder value.  Lead evolution of Medical Insight evaluation to include artificial intelligence / natural language processing tools.
• Drive evolution through creation of Medical Multichannel (MMC) plans that are integrated across channels, focusing on a seamless customer experience. Shape & execute the Multichannel Scientific engagement/communication strategy.
• Closely track emerging and evolving digital technologies across industries, with a focus on Healthcare & Pharma Industries. Leverage proof of concept to test ideas, concepts and channels for US Medical.
• Identify new multi-channel customer facing initiatives and channels that will enhance the customer experience for scientific and medical learning and/or improvement of patient care. 

·       Work collaboratively with US Medical Directors, US Field Medical Liaisons, & US Field Directors to develop consistent digital engagement strategies within strategic asset plans that support Biogen’s overarching medical goals.  Plan & implement enhancements to CRM and other medical tracking platforms to integrate with digital solutions.

You are an experienced, Medical Affairs leader with a deep understanding of the Field Medical ways of working and a predilection emerging technology.  You exhibit a continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to lead others towards change. You are a creative, innovative thinker and exhibit a strategic, can-do attitude.

Required Skills

• Advanced degree in scientific discipline (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD, NPs, PAs)

·       > 7 years combined Medical Affairs & Field Medical that includes demonstrated Medical leadership experience and projects developing / initiating digital engagement

·       Expertise and understanding of the variety of roles within Medical Affairs and their supporting processes

·       Medical operations experience &/or experience with Medical Affairs tactical and strategic planning along with appropriate tools.

·       Proven self-starter with experience in building capabilities and framework based on defined business needs.

·       Strong project management skills, including projects delivered across a matrix; Able to manage multiple complex projects across multiple departments and stakeholders. 

·       Ability to oversee creation of strategic, long-range plans and implement them successfully

·       Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the organization

Preferred Skills

·       Change management experience highly desired

·       Prior experience managing Field Medical functions and Field Medical training
