Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motived neuroscientist with deep expertise in in vivo electrophysiology and imaging techniques to probe the function of neural circuits in rodent models of disease. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in independent research, personalized mentorship to support scientific growth, and top-tier publications. He/she will lead a team of scientists responsible for planning and executing studies to support multiple drug discovery programs for CNS indications including neurodegenerative, neuromuscular and neurodevelopmental disorders. Significant industry experience and an understanding of clinical EEG applications are highly desired.  

As head of the Neural Circuits lab you will:
•    lead a team of scientists, postdoctoral fellows and students responsible for the design and execution of in vivo studies to support R&D programs with multimodal mechanisms of action
•    Work collaboratively with scientists across several Research Units to define program goals, conduct drug testing studies, and build capabilities to support Discovery programs with disease-relevant and translational in vivo endpoints
•    Provide scientific expertise and strategic guidance to successfully bring programs to Go/No go decisions, and improve translatability from animal models to human patients
•    Effectively support or lead cross-functional project teams 
•    Develop/implement innovative approaches to study neural circuit activity in rodent models of neurological and psychiatric diseases
•    Collaborate with clinical biomarker experts to improve bench-to-bedside translatability
•    Inspire, direct, and manage scientists, and advance activities across multiple projects in a timely manner 

Qualifications

Requirements:
•    The candidate should have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience in Neuroscience or a related field
•    A minimum of 5 years of industry experience, or relevant leadership experience in an academic role. A minimum of 3 years of leading individuals and teams.
•    Significant experience and knowledge of in vivo electrophysiological and calcium imaging techniques to assess neural activity
•    This position involves multiple collaborative projects; therefore, strong organizational and communication skills, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset are essential
